CHAPTER I

INTRODUCTION
1.1

Background
The term bullying its coming from bull which means

bull. Bull is an animal which love to attacking the aggressive


againts anyone who is nearby. Same with bullying, its an act
described like bull that tends to be destructive.
Bullying is a condition where has been abuse of power did
by an individual or group. The abuse of power did by an
individual or group who strong not just physically but mentally
too. (Sejiwa, 2008). Behaviour bullying too can call with peer
victimization or hazing.
In Japan, behaviour of bullying known as the ijim, coming from
ijimeru which that means is as an act of torture, scold, and let fly.
(Erika Vaelntina 2008).
At first the bullying to the kid according to Ross (In Focus on
Bullying) is: Bullying can start out in seemingly playful ways,

consisting of pranks, jokes, and some roughhousing. The


incidents soon become more hurtful, degenerating into namecalling, ridicule, personal attacks, and public embarrassment.
Rough and tumble play gives way to punching, kicking,
restraining, and beatings.
Liness (Sri Wahyuni & M.G. Adiyanti, 2010) defines the
behaviour of bullying as intimidation did by an individual or group
of both physical, psychological, sosial, verbal or emotional
conducted continuously.

DISCUSSION
2.1 What kind of Bullying?
According to Robison Kathy (2010:1) the form of bullying
can be done directly like physical aggression (striking, kicking),
verbal aggression (ridicule, opinions about race or sex), and
nonverbal aggression (gestures which showing the threat.)
Sejiwa (2008) confirm there are three categories of
behaviour of bullying, among them:
1. Physical bullying.
Physical bullying is the form behaviour of bullying, it
can be see by naked eye, because there is direct contact
between the performer and sacrifice. The form of bullying
is like : slaping, throwing, tear out hair, lawing with running
around the field, lawing with push up.
2. Verbal bullying.
Verbal bullying is the form of behaviour bullying, it
can be hear. The form of behaviour of bullying is like:
humiliate, making fools in public, accused, share a rumor,
slandering.
3. Psychology bullying.
Psychology bullying is the form behaviour of bullying
which very dangerous because sometimes ignore by some

people. The form psychology bullying is like: looking with


cynical, looking with full of threat.
Focus on Bullying confirm that the form behaviour of
bullying, among
them:
1. Physical aggression.
The form behaviour of bullying included to physical
aggression divide be two:
a. The form behaviour of bullying which need to attention.
1) Pushing.
2) Spitling.
3) Kicking.
4) Striking.
b. The form behaviour of bullying with serious attention.
1) Threating with used a weapon.
2) Dirtying even till broke a thing.
3) Stealing.
2. Mouth aggression.
The form behaviour of bullying include to mouth
aggression, devide be two:
a. The form behaviour of bullying which not need to
serious attention.
1) Humiliate.
2) Making fools in public.
3) Ridicule.

5) Allusion other people.
b. The form behaviour of bullying which need to serious
attention.
1) Intimidation (terror)
2) Ridicule about race.
3) Threat about like words who can hurt feel other
people.
4) Forcing.
5) Press to other people.
3. Social isolation.
The form behaviour of bullying include to social
isolation, devide be two:
a. The form behaviour of bullying which not need to
serious attention.

1) Gossiping even slandering someone until away by his


friends.
2) Embarrassed someone on public.
3) Make a someone if it looks stupid.
4) Spread a rumor about someone.
5) Drop out someone from a group.
b. The form behaviour of bullying which need to serious
attention.
1) Incited other people that are based hate.
2) Doing the isolation to someone or group who related
with race or gender.
3) Make a someone guaranteed a mistake.
4) Doing the humiliate on public.
5) Spread bad rumor about someone
Riauskina, Djuwita, dan Soesetio (Levianti, 2008) cofirm
that the form of bullying, that is:
a. Physical contact direct
Physical contact direct is disruption attack with
physical who did by the doer to sacrifice or target where
involved contact direct. This act can strike, push, kick,
pinch, and another hard act.
b. Verbal contact direct
Verbal contact direct is attack a words who saying
direct from the doer to sacrifice. This act can be threat,
ridicule,

embarrassed,

snarling,

spread

gossip,

negative attitude to a teacher. Between the boy and the


girl have something different in a thing.
c. Behaviour non-verbal direct
This behaviour show through gestures the doer
bullying who usual known as body language, which looks
direct to target. The kid usually do with looks cynical,
show expression face lower, ignore his friends, shift see,
and gestures who humiliate other people.
d. Behaviour non-verbal indirect

This behaviour not involved contact direct between


the doer bullying with the sacrifice. The behaviour like
isolation, did dishonest to other people or bestfriend who
cause crack the friendship, with intentional isolation the
friend, instigated other friend, send SMS threat without
name the sender. This behaviour did with enemy feel not
comfortable, nervous and threatened or scared.
e. Sexual insulting
Sexual insulting usually do by a man to woman.
Sexual insulting by physical or speak use ridicule or a
words which not rude for show to around thing which
sensitive to sexual. In physical sexual insulting can do
with intentional hold districts sexual.
2.2 The cause of the bullying.
According to Andri Priyatna (2010:6-8) propose factors of
bullying, that is:
a. Family factor.

friends. According to Costrie Ganes Widayanti (2009)
confirm that the kids who hurting his friend physical or
mental without feel empathy or pity cause:

Ponny Retno Astuti (2008:8) explain that school as
usual happened of bulllying case, that is:

1. In that be found discriminatory behaviour. Teacher or


students.
2. Decrease checking and leadership attitude from the
teachers and school official.
3. Be found big asymmetry between the students who
rich adn poor.
4. There is pattern disclipned who very stiff or too weak.
5. Leadership which not suitable and ordinance who not
consistent.

2.3 The things which be a materials of bullying.


1. Body shape:
a. Too tall or too short
b. Too fat or too thin
2. Too beauty/handsome or ugly.
3. Nerd.
4. Autis.
5. Poor.
6. Different ethnic.
7. Physical defect.

3.1 Summary
Bullying is a condition where has been abuse of power did
by an individual or group. The abuse of power did by an
individual or group who strong not just physically but
mentally too. (Sejiwa, 2008). Behaviour bullying too can call
with peer victimization or hazing.
Factor and the form of bullying can be kind.

Every behaviour of bullying is bad. Nothing benefit we can get


of bullying. Stop bullying now! We life in peace.
