Vision Statement
Teaching is one of the best professions teaching has the power to transform the lives of
students. Teaching does not only make a positive impact on the lives of the students, but it also
makes a positive impact in society and the world. In my personal opinion, the main goal of
teaching should be changing and improving the life of each student. My own experiences have
shaped the way I think about students and teaching. Growing up in a different country I have
seen the different teaching styles of two different countries. These experiences have managed to
change my way of thinking about education and learning styles of each student. Every
experience I have had since I started this incredible journey has taught me many important and
essential things needed in this profession. As I continue in this journey to earn my Bachelors
Degree as an educator, I will continue building my knowledge through experiences.
The educator needs to possess essential qualities to ensure that every student in the
classroom receives the best education possible in order to be successful in life. A teacher needs to
be caring, patient, kind, and because not all students learn the same way, the teacher needs to be
understanding. Moreover, a teacher needs to be a great motivator and leader for students. A
teacher needs to be a good role model for students as they will be noticing all of the things she
does. Furthermore, my focus as a teacher is to stay up-to-date in my knowledge of current
events, so that I will be able to discuss a variety of topics intelligently, that enriches the lives of

my students. I will collaborate with others to obtain more knowledge in the field of education
(Learner-Centered Proficiencies, 1997). As a future educator I will provide great motivation for
my students, I will encourage them to believe in themselves because everything can be possible.
I will provide all the support they need in order to succeed in life.
In addition, the teacher needs essential skills that provide for students with the basic
knowledge they need in order to move forward. I will start by introducing simple skills and after
that move to the more difficult ones. Such technique will allow students not feel stress and they
will be able to learn more. I want to teach my students about real-world experiences, such
activities will help them prepare for their future success. In Teaching with the Brain in Mind, the
author states that Social experiences literally change the human brain (Jensen, 2005, p. 94). As
the author stated, human being learn better through experiences, and because of that, I want to
expose my students to social experiences. Moreover, as a future bilingual educator I will teach
my students about different cultures. We live in a diverse nation, and it is important that students
learn about different cultures at a young age.
Essential elements of a classroom are learner-centered and based on kindness and respect.
I will emphasize to my students the importance of being respectful toward other students because
each students opinion is important. I strive to create a classroom in which students feel
comfortable a place in which they feel safe. I will implement cooperative learning into my
classroom, as it establishes mutual support among students and creates a positive classroom from
learning (Kegan, 2009). Moreover, I will create a healthy classroom environment that meets the
students' needs and the instructional goals. Jensen describes that our environment has an effect in
our brains (Jensen, 2005, p. 981). As the author stated, the environment of the classroom is very
important, because it affects the way students learn.

Escalon 3
My vision as an educator is to learn with my students, I believe that learning is an endless
process, as every day is a new opportunity to learn something new. I want for my students to
become life-long learners. Lev Vygotsky theory describes that students learn better through
social interaction (Powell, 2009). I strongly support Vygotsky theory, because I also believe that
learning is a social process, we all learn from one another. I believe that students should not only
work with the teacher one-on-one, because I think all of the students have much to offer and they
can all learn from one another through cooperative learning. In addition, as a future educator, I
want to promote parent involvement into my classroom. I consider parents involvement a very
important part in the education, because students with involved parents tend to do better in
school. Moreover, as an educator I will develop a strong relationship with my students, I want for
my students to see me not only as their teacher, but also as a person they can rely on and trust.
