2. A concentric shaft AB made of hollow brass (G = 40 GPa) and solid aluminum (G = 27
GPa) is attached by a flanged bolt coupling at B to a solid brass shaft BC which is attached to a solid steel (G=80 GPa) shaft CD. The whole shaft is fixed at A and D. The bolt coupling initially has a mismatch of 1 degree. A torque T is applied at C to close the mismatch before any torque is transmitted to AB. (a) Determine the torque T applied at C. (b) After the mismatch is closed, T is continuously applied at C but a torque of 0.4T is removed at B. Determine the torques developed at A and D.
