JOSH RULE BOOK

List of Events:

Note: All the sports will be played according to the standard rules except a
few changes as mentioned below. For each of the events the Organizers
reserve the right to add/delete any rules of the game should and all such
matters of concern will be settled in the spirit of sportsmanship.

JOSH RULE BOOK

CRICKET For Men

There will be only 1 team from the institute comprising 11

+ 4 (subs) players max.

The match will be of Maximum 10 overs. Only Finals will
have 12 overs.
All matches will be played with yellow heavy Headley
cricket tennis balls. New ball will be provided at start of

every innings.
Bats and balls will be provided by JOSH organizing team.
The result of a tied game will be decided by super over. If
the super over is tied, the team that has hit maximum

number of Sixes in the super over will be the winner.

The LBW rule to get a batsman out is not applicable.
If the ball is lost during the course of the game, another
ball of the same condition (subject to availability) will be

provided - the decision of which lies with the umpires.

Leg byes and byes are allowed in the game. Free hit for
front foot no ball.

JOSH RULE BOOK

The mandatory dress code for the participating teams will

be: T-Shirt, Track pant/Full pant & shoes.

First 3 overs for each side will be the power play, where
fielding restrictions apply (will be explained by the

umpire). For finals power play will be for 4 overs.

The format for the event will be knockout with total 8
teams participating.
The Umpires decision will be deemed final in any case of
controversy and that will stand above any challenge by any

team.
There will be a break of 5 minutes between each innings.
Each team will get 40 minutes (50 for Finals) to bowl their
10 overs failing which they will be given a penalty of 6
runs for every over bowled after the specified time limit.

BASKETBALL
For men
There will be only 1 team from the institute comprising 10

players max (5+5 substitutes)

Duration: 4 quarters; 6 minutes each
All the standard rules of the game would apply.
The format for the event will be knockout with total 8
teams participating.
The referees decision will be deemed final in any case of
controversy and that will stand above any challenge by any

team.
One time out per quarter will be allowed to each team
4 Fouls per quarter and 5 personal fouls per match

For Women
There will be only 1 team from the institute comprising 8

players max (5+3 substitutes)

Duration: 4 quarters; 5 minutes each

For women it will be half court.

Rest of the rules are similar to boys matches.

FUTSAL For Men

There will be 1 team from the institute comprising of 10

players max.(6+4 substitutes)

The duration of each match will be 35 mins(15-5-15) and
Finals it will be 45 mins(20-5-20)
In case of a tie two 5 min half's will decide the match and if
further tied game will be decided by penalty shoot-out.
Standard Futsal penalty rules are applicable.
Goalkeeper may change places with any other player.
A maximum of 4 substitutes will be allowed per team in a
game. Substitutions are rolling and can be done even when

the ball is in play but by informing the referee only.

A player can come in and go out any number of times
during the course of the match.
The referee's decision will be deemed final and above the
challenge of any participating team.

JOSH RULE BOOK

If a player is shown a red card or two yellow cards, he will

miss the next match and also cannot play the present
match.

THROWBALL For women

There will be only 1 team from the institute comprising 10

players max (7+3 substitutes).

A team gets a point even for serve change.
All other standard rules of the game apply.
The format will be knockout.
The referees decision will be deemed final in any case of
controversy and that will stand above any challenge by any

team.
Matches consist of a best of 3 sets, except finals which will
have 5 sets.
A set (except the deciding, final set 15 point) is won by the
team which first scores 25 points with a minimum lead of
two points.

JOSH RULE BOOK

In the case of a 1-1 set tie or a 2-2 set tie, the deciding set
(the final) is played to 15 points with a minimum lead of 2
points.

VOLLEYBALL For men

There will be only 1 team from the institute comprising 9

players max (6+3 substitutes).

Matches consist of a best of 3 sets, except finals which will
have 5 sets.
A team gets a point even for serve change.
A set (except the deciding, final set) is won by the team
which first scores 25 points with a minimum lead of two

points.
In the case of a 1-1 set tie or a 2-2 set tie, the deciding set
(the final) is played to 15 points with a minimum lead of 2

points.
All other standard rules of the game apply.
The format will be knockout with 8 teams participating.

LAWN TENNIS (Men)

The team members can carry their own rackets. However,
the rackets and balls for the game will be provided by the

organizer.
The format will be knockout with 8 teams participating.
The team will comprise of minimum 2 & maximum 4
players.
It will be in the format of 2 singles & 1 doubles per team.
Any player can play only one singles match
The referees decision will be deemed final in any case of
controversy and that will stand above any challenge by any
team.

JOSH RULE BOOK

CARROM For both men & women

There will be only 1 team from the institute comprising of
Team Size: 3 boys + 2 girls; Playing Members: 3 boys + 1
girl.
There will be Men single, Women Single, Men double,
where a team which has maximum points will win the
match (Point system will be explained before the start of

the match).
All the international rules will be followed as per the
carrom federation website.
The format will be knockout with 8 teams participating.
The referees decision will be deemed final in any case of
controversy and that will stand above any challenge by any
team.

JOSH RULE BOOK

CHESS
UNISEX
There will be only 1 team from the institute comprising 4

players (3 + 1 substitute).
All games would be played with 20 minutes clock time to
each player.
Match Draws at any stage and in any structure will be
decided by a tiebreaker.
In a Tie Breaker one nominated player of both of the teams
will be playing against each other in a rapid fire game.
Board order should be specified at the start of the
tournament.
Substitute player always comes on the last board.
The format will be knockout with 8 teams participating.

TABLE TENNIS
The format will be knockout or round robin based on number
of participating teams.
The referees decision will be deemed final in that will stand
above any challenge by any team.

For men
There will be only 1 team from the institute comprising
minimum 4 players.
Each match consists of a best of 1 singles, 1 doubles and 1
singles and one player can play maximum two matches.
In finals match consists of a best of 2 singles, 1 doubles and 2
singles. Each player can play maximum two matches
Each of the singles and doubles will be a best of 3 games of 11
points each.

JOSH RULE BOOK

Participants can carry their own TT bats. However the TT bats

and balls will be provided by the organizer.

For Women

The team will comprise of minimum 2 & maximum 4

players.

It will be in the format of 2 singles & 1 doubles per team.

Any player can play only one singles match
Each of the singles and doubles will be a best of 3 games of
11 points each.

POOL 8 BALL & 9 BALL

UNISEX
There will be only 1 team from the institute comprising Team
Size: 5 players Playing Members: 4 players (3 boys & 1 girl)
Each player can play a maximum of 1 match

JOSH RULE BOOK

Each of the singles and doubles will be Best of 3 Frames

Participants are required to carry their own cue sticks.
However, the balls and chalk will be provided by the organizer
and Race to 3 Frames till finals.

LAN GAMING
COUNTER STRIKE
There will be only 1 team from the institute comprising 5
players.
Players are supposed to carry their own mouse and
headphones.
For the elimination rounds all matches will be played in
de_dust2.
For semi-finals & finals 3 maps will be played- de_dust2,
de_inferno and de_nuke. Winner will be selected on the basis of
best of 3.
It will be race to 15 rounds, where swapping of CT & T
happens after every 11 rounds.

The format will be knockout or round robin based on number

of participating teams.

FIFA-14
There will be maximum 2 players from each institute.
Players are supposed to carry their own joystick (if needed) and
headphones.
For elimination rounds all matches will be played for 8 mins (4
mins half time)
For semi-finals and finals matches will be played for 12 mins (6
mins half time).
The format will be knockout or round robin based on the
number of participating teams.

NFS
atLANtis 4.0
General Rules To Be Followed By All Players

All players should follow the instructions of the eventheads and the coordinators.

Any player found using cheat-codes will be immediately

eliminated from the tournament.

The available gaming accessories are Keyboard and a

Mouse. If a player wishes then that player

can get his own accessories like joysticks, Headphones, and

other peripherals to simulate their own best playing
environment (optional).

In case of any problems while playing, the players should

report to their respective event-heads.

Tournament Rules NFS

1. 1. Game Version: NFS Most Wanted
2. Tournament format: 4 vs. 4 (LAN Play, 4 players per round)
3. Participants should be Full time MBA students
4. A game consists of 3 rounds, each round being in 2 Sprint
and 1 Circuit races.
In the incident of a tie, there will be a tie breaker match
4. Winning a round:

5. a. Participants who comes first wins the round.

6. Disqualification: Intentionally hitting or blocking other
participant will lead to disqualification and result in a
restart of that round.
7. Every participants will be provided a set of cars to choose
from. No profile cars allowed.
8. Number of rounds increases as the tournament progresses.
This information will be announced before the start of each
Match.
9. A limited amount of time will be given to configure the
system to your liking.
General Game Settings:
1. Medium Traffic
2. No Performance Impact Setting
3. Low Police Interference
Cheating and Rule Violation
* The Server Admin has the right to disqualify and dismiss any
registered player from the tournament, at their discretion, at
any stage of the tournament, for any reason, with no prior
warning to the player.
* Any protests or disagreements with tournament rulings must
be made directly to the Server Admin in Reasonable manner at
the time of the incident, at which time a prompt decision will be
made. The Server Admins decisions are final.

* Any competitor or team attempting to use any exploit in a

map shall be immediately disqualified and may be removed
from the event.
* Any form of cheating, including but not limited to intentional
disconnects, ping flooding, server crashing, etc. Will result in
immediate disqualification of the competitor and/or team.
* The below items are considered as cheating:
1. Using cheat software;
2. Intentional disconnection;
3. Using any settings other than standard and permitted;
4. Using game map bugs
The Tournament Organizers reserves the right to cancel or
modify the tournament rules if fraud, technical failures or any
other factor beyond reasonable control, impairs the integrity
of the tournament.
The decisions of the organizers of the contest will be final and
binding on all the participants.
DISCLAIMER Decision regarding any dispute would be taken by the JOSH
organizing committee of NITIE and all the teams would have to abide by them.
