The main image only covers half of the page which is unconventional.

This photo is a quite iconic and famous photo of the band. The image
shows the lead singer, Healy, at the front with his arms outstretched,
almost in a welcoming gesture. Because of this stance, he takes up the
majority of the photo thus has become more recognisable than the
other members of the band. This stance could also be associated with
Jesus on the cross; this could link with sacrifices the band has made to
be successful. The welcoming gesture also entices readers in; if
somebody was flicking through the magazine they would feel inclined
to read the article because the gesture is inviting the reader in. This
also shines a positive light on the band as they are being portrayed as
friendly. The member on the far left behind Healy looks rather out of
place as he is poking out behind the lead singer. This shows the
insignificance of the other band members; it is unimportant to ensure
that they are in sight as they are not very recognisable for the band.
The majority of clothes worn by the members of the band are black
and white which hugely contrast with the light pink background. This
helps them stand out as dark colours on a light background are more
noticeable. This shows the importance of the photo being seen by the
audience. However, the image is being super imposed by quite a lot of
text which makes the page look quite cluttered and busy.
A drop cap has been used at the beginning of the article to help
readers identify where the article starts. This is conventionally
bold and large.
The colour scheme of the centre spread consists of a light pink,
white and black. These are colours also related to the band
featured as The 1975s logo and posters consist of these colours.
The colours are rather unconventional as they are not associated
with indie/ alternative and are also rather feminine which
contrasts with the stereotypes surrounding males.
A side bar has been inserted in the centre of the text along the
middle. These are used to apply additional information to the
article. It makes the text less informal and encourages the
reader to continue reading as it is a more visual display of the
text. This is in a colourful, bright bink box.
The entirety of text on the page is sans serif. I quite like a
mixture of sans serif and serif to have a balance of formal and
informal. It also makes the article look more appealing.
The image on this page has a caption which is conventional. This
helps the reader understand the context of the photo.

The name of the artist that the article is about is written in the upper left of the page. It is rather small and possibly even hidden out of the way and is certainly
not attractive nor eye-catching to the audience. This could be because The 1975 are now rather well established and popular so their name doesnt have to be
huge as people should recognise them from the picture, although, the image is rather small and not eye-catching enough either. However, for people who
dont know the band, this is negative as they man feel excluded or even uninterested because they dont know who the band are and it isnt being made clear
enough. I dislike that the name of the band is so small because of this.

The title of the article promotes the magazine as it mentions that NME is
the only magazine that he buys but then adds a controversial opinion about
how there are often people on the cover who he dislikes and refers to them
as knobheads. This is a very informal term and could even be seen as
offensive. This encourages me to believe that the target audience is rather
young as young people are often unoffended whereas an elderly individual
may find this inappropriate. Furthermore, magazine has been shortened
to mag to make it even more informal.
The main image shows the artist holding a newspaper. The use of this
encourages the easily influenced, young audience to believe that it is cool
to read the magazine as a musical legend reads it. In the photo, Gallagher is
dressed much alike to a normal person despite his wealth and success.
This is also anchoring as it links with the title. The person on the newspaper
is Gallagher from when he was younger which shows the transition from
early in his career to now. This suggests that fame has not changed him and
makes him seem like the average person which helps the audience relate to
him. Moreover, this could encourage the audience to respect him more as
people tend to respect famous people who have not changed due to their
success.
The main body of text consists of questions and answers as a normal
interview would. The magazine has made it very clear which is the answer
and which is the question by making the question bold. Furthermore, the
text has been separated by gutters to make it easier to read. A gutter is a
conventional feature used in articles.
A drop cap has been used to mark the beginning of the interview. This helps
the reader find the beginning of the articles text.

Here in the corner of the main image,

there is a small area of text which supplies
the reader with facts and figures about the
artist which links with the magazine. These
give the reader a break from long areas of
text like the main article. However, the
information is rather uninteresting and
insignificant. People dont really care how
many times the artist has made the cover
of the magazine therefore, I dont
particularly like this feature.

The main image has

been given a caption.
This is conventional
and puts the image
into context. It gives
a brief summary of
the information that
the reader requires
and has been
highlighted in gold to
help it stand out.

The colour scheme consists of white, black,

blue and gold. This has been selected to match
the main image as he is wearing a black jacket
with blue jeans holding a black and white
newspaper with gold writing. The text is very
clear as the main body of text is black on a
contrasting white background and other text is
clear too. The variety of colours makes the
spread look more visually attractive which
draws in the attention of readers who may be
flicking through the magazine.

The pull quote is rather controversial as it talks of the artists dislike of a band who were very competitive with
Oasis in the 90s. The use of the word hate exaggerates the negative opinion Gallagher has on Blur which makes
the statement even more shocking and interesting to readers. Furthermore, the singer describes them as
pansies which is a rather informal comparison. This makes the article more informal which allows readers to
feel entertained easier as the magazine poses as an almost friendly figure. However, this is supposed to be an
insulting term so creates controversy as some readers will dislike that Gallagher has said this whereas other
readers may agree and respect him more for being so open about his opinion. Either way this statement will draw
readers in. This pull quote has been written in a serif font creating a contrast between the bold sans serif title.
Furthermore, this test is written in gold which stands out on the plain white background. Gold is associated with
wealth and an upper-class status suggesting that Gallagher is successful and rich and promoting respect for him.
They have also put the singers name beneath the quote to make it very clear that it was said by the interviewee.
