1) About the company

Taco Bell is an American chain of fast-food restaurants based
in Irvine, California, in the U.S. A subsidiary of Yum! Brands,
Inc., they serve a variety of Tex-Mex foods including tacos,
burritos, quesadillas, nachos, other specialty items, and a
variety of "value menu" items. Taco Bell serves more than 2
billion customers each year in more than 6,500 restaurants
(mostly in the U.S.), more than 80 percent of which are owned
and operated by independent franchisees.
It produces different types of tacos and burritos products
related as Taco Bells tacos: fiery doritos, cool ranch doritos
crunchy taco, soft, chicken soft, cheesy gordita
Taco bell is one of the worlds largest food companies, known
around the world for quality, produce and market more than
100 brands in more than 100 countries on six continents.
In 1991, Taco Bell opened the first Taco Bell Express in San
Francisco. This concept is a reduced-size restaurant with a
limited menu (primarily items priced under $1), meant to
emphasize volume.[9] Taco Bell Express locations operate
primarily inside convenience stores, truck stops, shopping
malls, and airports.

2) Procedure.
Beef, water, isolated oat product, salt, chili pepper, onion powder,
tomato powder, oats (wheat), soy lecithin, sugar, spices, maltodextrin (a
polysaccharide that is absorbed as glucose), soybean oil (anti-dusting
agent), garlic powder, autolyzed yeast extract, citric acid, caramel color,
cocoa powder, silicon dioxide (anti-caking agent), natural flavors, yeast,
modified corn starch, natural smoke flavor, salt, sodium phosphate, less
than 2% of beef broth, potassium phosphate, and potassium lactate are
some of their raw materials
This raw material aremixed about 4 minutes then are prepared for 10
minsto get it well burn like the beef and it is separated in pieces for
each taco, after that goes through a machine which then its added a
little bit of dust flour to not get sticky then through rollers then a brush
for a smooth surfaces, then through stainless metal spike rollers to make
a good surface, when the tortilla corn is very crunchy it is time to add
the meat and the tops, after that through we add the tomato, onion,
lettuce etc, then added mozzarella cheese or whatever you want, then
its added the dressing, ranch, thousand islands, blue cheese etc, the
taco passes through an inspection, then its wrapped with a clear layer of
plastic and finally its putted into the boxes or ready to consume there.
We calculate the wait time for the beef to be stitched, what we could to
solve it.

To solve it we can store the tortilla dough of the mixed ingredient on the
inventory and while we wait for the tortilla to be stitched, we mix the
next ingredients to prepare the next tortilla dough and so on, to faster
the production due to on operation.you can put half of the dough and
also we need to put the other half with the next dough on the process on
so to not waste time we can reduce the process with a new schedule.
The whole process is 1 hour.
At the beginning of the day we do the first process schedule.

3) Linear Programming.

The company produces not only tacos and burritos supreme they also
sell especialities like gorditas, the sales for the especialities one is the 70
percent of the total sales of the especialities and tacos ones. Taco bells
tacos cant sell more than 1,500 units of especialities per day. Both
products use beef, of which is the maximum daily availability 2,900 lbs.
The usage of the beef for the tacos is 6 lbs per package and for the
especialities one is 4 lbs per package. The profit units for especialitiesis
$70 and for the tacos is $30 percent. We want to reach the optimal profit
with the use for the especialities of the company.The beef
Especialities: X1
Tacos and burritos: X2
X1 0.70 (X1+X2)
Objective Max Z= 70 X1 + 30X2
Restrictions:

0.30 X1 0.70 X2 0
X1 1,500

(Steps)
1. X1 0.70 (X1+X2)
X1 = 0.70X1+ 0.70 X2,
2.
3. X1 =0.30X1+ 0.70 X2,
4. 0.30X1- 0.70 X2= 0
If (x1=0)
0.70 X1 + 0.40 X2 2,900 lbs
0.40 X2 2,900 lbs
X2 2,900 lbs / 0.40
X2 =7250
0.70 X1 2,900 lbs
X1 2,900 lbs / 0,70
X1 = 4,142.85

Z= 100 (ArbitraryValue)
Max Z = 70 X1 + 30 X2
If (X2 =0)
100 = 70 X1
100/70 =X1 = 1.42
If (X1 = 0)
100 = 30 X2
100/30 = X2 = 3.33
Solving Z
2 (0.70 X1 + 0.40 X2 = 2,900)
+
0.30 X1 0.70 X2 = 0
_____________________________
1.42 X1 = 5,800
X1 = 4,084
0.70 (4,084)+ 0.30 X2 = 2,900
2,858 + 0.30 X2 = 2,900
2,900-2,858 = .30 X2
42/.30 = X2
X2 = 140
Z= 70 (4,084) + 30 (140)
Z= $285,000 + $4,200
Z= $289,200 the optimal profit we can reach with the beef use
for both products.

4)Transportation Model
Taco bell has three plants one in Florida, One in Georgia and another in
Alabama, and two mayor distribution centers in California and Texas. The
capacities are 1500, 900 and 1100 packages of tacos and the demands

at the two distribution centers for the same period are 2,100 for Texas
and 1,700California packages. The millage chart between the plants and
the distribution centers is given are:

What we need to do is to minimize the costs from which are:

Z= 68x11 + 55x12 + 53x21 + 87x22 + 42x31 + 92x32.
x11 + x12 = 1,500 (Florida)

5) Critical Path Method

Taco bell is thinking to release a new kind of taco speciality but first they
need to do a planning for the activities and duration that this will take.

Conclusion

In both subject and project I learned that I can do an calculation or

estimate more exactly, and it is also essential for my future firm within
the production or logistic area, the plants have to get the best, easier
and faster solution for any problem that my company is going through, I
learned how to do it by common sense, linear programming which is
more complex to solve more situations and another methods such the
transportation model which give me more details of how to manage the
costs of transport, demand, distribution etc, and then the critical path
method which we can reduce time or expand the time depending what
we want to do for our company like planning activities and the duration
this will take, all involved and with the time schedule for critic and non
critic activities, It is more organizated.
