Improving the Triangle: Listening sessions results

This document contains public comments gathered during Washington State Ferries listening meetings in the
Fauntleroy, Vashon Island and Southworth communities between Oct. 24 and Oct. 27, 2016. This public input
will provide a starting point for a community taskforce to develop solutions by summer 2017.
About the comments
In order to be as transparent as possible, we strived to transcribe the comments exactly as they were written
by members of the public, with the exception of illegible words and those containing profanity. In those cases,
weve marked where content is missing. Each comment appears only once, though multiple people may have
provided similar comments. Some comments held more than one idea. In these cases, we divided the
comments into their separate ideas so each could be grouped accordingly.
Please note: This document contains raw data, which means it likely includes typographical errors, conflicting
perspectives and assertions that might not be complete or accurate. This is an iterative process, and the ideas
expressed in these comments will be reviewed, clarified and explored by the community taskforce as work
progresses toward solutions.
How to use this document
The document consists of a table with four columns: Theme, location submitted, comments, and location
referenced.

Themes are the broad groups meant to reflect the general ideas contained in the comments. The
purpose of themes is to make it easier to skim the list and compare comments on related topics. Not
every comment was a perfect fit, and the taskforce will be responsible for reviewing, prioritizing and
grouping this feedback going forward.

Location submitted is the meeting at which the comment was submitted to WSF, or the area where an
email commenter resides. The locations are color coded for easy reference:

Next steps for these comments

Over the next few months, WSF will assemble a community taskforce to review these comments and other
available data, with the goal of identifying quick wins to improve service by next summer and exploring
strategies for longer-term solutions. The taskforces meetings will be advertised and open to the public.
In the meantime, WSF will update its website with responses to questions received at our listening sessions
