METHOD STATEMENT
2.1
PREPARATION
2.1.1 The areas of installation will be checked using the installation drawings
and any obstruction not shown on the drawings will be identified to the
supervisor.
2.1.2 Installation drawings will be checked and status approval confirmed (see
checklist 09-38A).
2.1.3 Material to be installed together with all fixings and accessories will be
confirmed approved by supervisor and QC (see checklist 09-38A for
confirmation)
2.2
Method of Installation
2.2.1 The sizes and types of cables and accessories will be determined from the
approved drawings before installation.
2.2.2 Materials to be used will be checked and verified against the approved
materials and will be installed with reference to manufacturers
instructions.
2.2.3 The cables will be installed on/in cable ladder, tray, trunking, and conduit
in accordance approved drawings.
2.2.4 All cables will be continuously run from source to termination without any
through joints included. In the case of LV power cables (XLPE) joints shall
be installed only after the written approval of the engineer.
2.2.5 The cables connected to the R phase will in all cases be coloured Red;
the cables connected to phase Y will be coloured Yellow and the cables
connected to phase B will be coloured Blue. The neutral conductor will in
all cases be coloured Black. Any insulated earth wires will be connected
upto the terminals or cables lugs.
2.2.6 Cables will be adequately stored and protected from damage pending
installation.and also during the installation process. Cable drums will be
regularly inspected during storage.
2.2.7 Cables will be drawn from cable reels suitably supported on purpose made
frames Cables will not be drawn from reels laid on the ground. Direction
of rolling will be respected.
2.2.8 Cable rollers will be used for long runs of cable and will be utilised as per
the cable manufactures recommendations.
2.2.9 For long runs the cable will be laid along the complete route and
allowance made for bending and termination etc prior to cutting the cable.

2.2.10After cutting the cable the ends will be sealed against moisture ingress as
applicable.
2.2.11Cables connected in parallel will be the same type, cross sectional area
and length to ensure they are carrying substantially equal load current.
2.2.12The wire armouring of single core power cables in the same circuit will not
be bonded together at both ends.
2.2.13Cables will be glanded and terminated using approved materials, which
will include an earth cable tag.
2.2.14Cables will be fitted with indestructible identification band at each end,
over their entire length at 30 m intervals, at all points where they enter or
leave ducts and at all major changes of direction.
2.2.15The installation of the cables will be done respecting the maximum
bending radius as recommended by the manufacturer.
2.2.16Cables will be laid on ladder/tray in an orderly fashion starting from the
inside (wall/support support side) first and proceeding outwards. Cables
will be laid straight and tied at recommended distances with cable ties.
2.2.17The cable spacing factors shown on the approved drawings will be
respected.
2.2.18Cables passing through ducts/sleeves/puddle flanges/blockouts will be
sealed using approved sealant only after completion of the complete cable
works.
2.2.19After installation of circuit cables the same will be offered for inspection.

SAFETY PROCEDURE
4.1
As per Site Safety Procedure for Grand Mosque, all persons involved shall
comply with the PPE regulations. Any extra PPE or material required for
this scope of work shall be supplied accordingly.
4.2
4.3
The scaffolding shall be inspected by the Site Safety Rep. to determine its
suitability for the job in hand. Any modifications shall be carried out, and
the Scaffolding re-inspected prior to commencement of work. Reference is
made to Procedure 09-19 for scaffold tagging.
4.4
All electric cables, lines and hoses shall be laid out in a manner to avoid
kinking and entanglement with scaffolding. Any cable or air line no longer
required shall be immediately removed from the work area to a safe
distance or disconnected and returned to the store.

The materials shall not be placed in a way likely to fall and cause a
working hazard or damage to the existing works.

The cutting and threading of tubes shall be carried out using tools
recommended by the manufacturer. Care shall be taken to ensure the
threads and tube ends are true and free from burrs that will cause damage
to the cables and create a working hazard.
