2.5/6 = 41.67%
Median: 2

The results of the pre-test showed me that the students have
little to no prior knowledge of the topic at all. Only 23 out of the 55
students did 50% or better on the pre-test. The class average as a
41.67% and the median was only a 33.34%. When giving the pre-test I
didnt know what to expect. My mentor teacher told me that the
students had covered this topic last year but not as in-depth as they

would during this lesson. I expected more of them to do at least a 50%.

These results indicate that the majority of the class has limited to no
knowledge, so I need to consider this when developing my lesson. Most
of my students will need the examples and checks for understanding in
the notes and they might need a supplementary activity. I could also
differential my lesson by splitting up groups based on pre-test results
and having at least one student who got a 4, 5, or 6 on the pre-test in
each group to help/teach the other students.

The difference between the pre-test and the post-test was
significant. The mean score went from a 41.67% to an 82.2% and the
median went from a 33.23% to an 80%. I did switched the first two
questions on the post-test to be a multiple choice fill in the blank that

was similar to the pre-test. On the pre-test there were five students
who received zero points, but on the post-test everyone got at least a
50% or better and 80% of the students did 80% or better. I think the
scores on the post-test show that for the most part the lesson was
successful but the majority of the class is at a b- level for the material.
I also noticed that most of the students who received an 8/10 or a 9/10
missed one small detail on the last problem. In the notes we talked
about how we cannot have the natural log of a negative number, but
when they were doing the problem with natural logs they said that -12
was an answer but it would not be. This shows me that either they
need to slow down and carefully look at their answers or that I needed
to better emphasis this rule during the notes and following activity. I
think there was still some room for improvement but the students that
received 70% or less were the students that I know either dont pay
attention or the students that have been struggling throughout the
entire semester.
