The PRAKTICA LTL is o minioture single-lens reflex comero for


the 24 mm x 36 mm picture formot, wrth outomotic exposure
c o n t r o l o n d i n t e r n o l m e t e r i n g t o w h i c h t h e s h u t t e r - s p e e d ,o p e r ture ond film-speed settings ore coupled. The meosuring system
e m p l o y e d i s p o r t i o l l y i n t e g r o t e d ,t h e m o i n m e o s u r i n gf i e l d , o b o u t
20 mm in diometer, being orronged in the centre of the viewfinder. The result is perfectly occurote metering since, with the
v o s t m o j o r i t y o f s u b j e c t s ,t h e m o s t i m p o r t o n t d e t o i l s o f t h e i m o g e
ore locoted within this oreo. All the subordinote morginol
sectionsore photometricolly left oside orrd connot influence the
reoding.
Metering is performed with the lens stopped down to toking
operture by odjusting the diophrogm ring on the lens mount
while depressing the metering key. By meons of this key the
circuit is closed. All lenses hoving the internotionol PRAKTICA
fitting M 42x1 moy be used. The outomotic mechonism in the
comero couses the pressure diophrogm in the lens (APD) to
operote os o spring diophrogm. This meons thot only during the
octuol moment of exposure the diophroqm closes down to the
volue obtoined by meons of the light meter,
metol-bloded focol-plone shutter trovels
ocross the shorter side of the frome ond hos o ronge of speeds

For the outomotic exposurecontrol, the film speed volue hos to
be set. This is done by lifting the milled ring of shutter-speed
settingknob (1) ond rototing it until the speed volue of the film
i n t h t c o m e r o ( D l N o r A S A ) o n s c o l e ( 1 2 ' )s t o n d s o p p o s i t e t h e
white indicotor (13). When lowered, the milled ring clicks irr
next to the selected film speed numerol.

The metol-bloded focol-plone shutter con be set for exposure


speeds ronging from 1 sec. to 1/1000sec. When set on "8" the
shutter tetoini open os long os the releose knob (3) is being
depressed.For exposuresof o longer durotion o coble releose
with locking device should be used, which con be screwed into
the threod in the body releose knob. For exposure speeds irr
connection with flosh units pleose refer to Section 0.

The first method is opplied if, for instonce, movement of the
object requires o certoln exposure speed, whereos the second
method *ill preferobly be opplied if o specific operture lros to
be preselected to ochieve the necessory depth of field.

Metering with shutter speed preselected


Preselect shutter speed by meons of knob (1). Press metering
key (2) qbove the shutter releose towords the comero body qs
fqr qs it will go, while ot the some time rototing diophrogm setting ring (17) on the lens mount till the meter needle visible in
the viewfinder is centered in the circulor mork. The diophrogm
of the lens opens or closes in occordqnce with the odjustment
of the diophrogm setting ring. In lenseswith outomotic pressure
diophrogm it opens ofter metering, when pressure on the
metering key reloxes, ond closes down outomoticolly to the
m e o s u r e dv o l u e w h e n t h e e x p o s u r ei s m o d e .

used, the lens will remoin stopped down till the shutter is

O w i n g t o t h e c o n s t r u c t i o no f t h e i r b o r r e l s , s o m e o f t h e o l d e r t y p e s
of lensesprotrude so for into the inside of the comero body, os
to impede the functioning of the outomotic diophrogm, the
m i r r o r , o n d t h e s h u t t e r .T h e m e t e r i n g k e y ( 2 ) c o n n o t b e o c t u o t e d

The imoge in the microprism screen is in correct focus os soon
os it oppeors cleor ond free from fuzziness.lt is out focus if
i t fo o k s f u z z y o n d s h o w s s c r e e n e l e m e n t s .T h e m i c r o p r i s m s c r e e n
is preferred for focusing if the subject to be photogrophed is
quite still or only slightly moving.

ond moisture. Thot is why the everreody cose should be used
wherever possible.
From time to time the cortridge chomber ond spool chomber,
olso the film trock ond comero bqck with film pressure plote
must be cleoned with o soft brush. But be coreful not to exert
p r e s s u r eo n t h e s t e e l b l o d e s o f t h e s h u t t e r o r t o t o u c h t h e m w i t h
your fingers.
Neither should the opticol ports (lens, eyepiece of viewfinder,
mirror) be touched. Should this hove hoppened, however, ony
fingerprints must be removed immediotely with o piece of fine
linen ofter o soft brush hos been used to remove ony possible
dust.
The mirror should be dusted only in urgent coses with o very soft
brush.
Never interfere with the mechonism of the comero. Repoir work
should be corried out only by one of our speciol Repoir Workshops.
