We discussed means of collaborating during the electoral process in
Kismaayo, as we expect that the process for the Lower House will
commence in the next few days. Today, we were planning, before the
process kicks off to ensure that everything is in place. We reached
consensus that all the facilities necessary for the electoral process in
Jubbaland are in place.

We needed to come and inspect what is on the ground in terms of
securing the electoral process. We have met the chairman of Jubbaland
State Level Indirect Electoral Implementation Team (SIEIT). We are happy
with what we have found.

The delegates will come in and exercise their responsibility without
hindrance or fear of intimidation. We expect a free fair credible,
transparent and incident free process. We want to take this opportunity to
thank the Jubbaland state government for all their efforts, in trying to
make sure the process takes off successfully. Somalias general elections
will be a landmark and a step further towards getting the country back to
normalcy.

Security arrangements are satisfactory at the electoral centre in
Kismaayo - AMISOM Police
Kismaayo, 07th November 2016- Senior police officials from the African
Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) have expressed satisfaction with the
security arrangements at the electoral center in Kismaayo, the capital of
Jubbaland State.
The team from AMISOM led by ACP Francis Ayitey Aryee held discussions with
top Jubbaland administration officials earlier today, on security measures
which have been put in place to ensure an incident free election in Jubbaland

State. ACP Aryee is a member of the Security Task Force charged with
overseeing and coordinating security during the electoral process.
We expect that the delegates will come in and exercise their responsibility
without hindrance or fear of intimidation. We expect a free, fair, credible,
transparent and incident free process, ACP Aryree said.
He added, We want to take this opportunity to thank the Jubbaland state
administration for all their efforts in trying to make sure the process takes off
successfully. Somalias electoral process will be a landmark and a step
further towards getting the country back to normalcy.

The team also held a meeting with the chairperson of the Jubbaland Statelevel Indirect Electoral Implementation Team, Mr. Abdi Ali Raghe and the
Jubbaland representative on the Somalia Electoral Security Taskforce Mr.
Mohamed Abdinor Ahmed.
