Front Matter:
The title of the book is Showing Up for Life. From the title, i can conclude
that the book will tell me about how become a successful person with patience,
bravery, and also confidence. The book is written by Bill Gates SR with Mary Ann
Mackin. This book published in 2009 by Broadway Books and also printed in The
United States of America especially New York. There is no a paper jacket on the
book. This book is a very interesting for me, through the cover i can imagine how
inspired me because of some facts and invaluable experiences that maybe given
from this fabulous book. There is a preface, a foreword, or an introduction directly
written by Bill Gates.

Body:
There are some kind of vocabulary do the writers use. Mostly they use
general vocabulary or concrete words. But if they use some difficult/unusual words,
they will tell me the meanings of it. The material user-friendly and use mixtures of
the methods of development pattern that is easy to understand. The writers help
me to understand the material by using good headings, pictures, notes, and also
some well-known words from some US presidents. The writer treat their main ideas
directly stated and put their main ideas within the selection.
There are some brilliant headings that contained in the table of contents,
they are Some Second Thoughts About Thinking, Showing Up for Life, Hard Work,
Radical Generosity, Open-Mindedness, Getting Along, Speaking Out, Learning How
to Lose, Honoring a Confidence, Finding Meaning in Your Work, Thingking Tall,
Showing Up for Your Family, Sharing Your Gifts with Others, Connecting People, etc.
At the beginning, the system that the writers use in the chapters in a book is
summarize their ideas and give study questions and exercises. There are some
kinds of aids that the writers use, like drawing and photographs. There is no list of
references for further reading. The writers telling me some experiences, tips & trick,
and also some motivation to become a successful person who caring family and the
other people. The total of the body part of this book are 188 pages.
Back Matter:
I think this book is up-to-date enough because some of experiences, the
comment from Bill Gates friends, and also the words that the writers used is quite
modern. There is a glossary and author index in the back matter of this book, i
understand most of the things the glossary has in it. In the back cover, there is a
synopsis, the price of the book, short biography of Wiilam Gates SR, some links for
further reading in the internet from e-book and also some blurbs from Warren
Buffet, Jimmy Carter, and Tom Brokaw.
