Chelmer valley high schools contents page

is presented on their website under

school news. The contents of the
magazine are laid out on the left and in
our direct line of sight. It the follows on to
show the main topics of the contents in
the magazine, and clicking on each of
these follows onto a section of text that
has content about each topic.

These links then follow

onto show the information
of each of the topics from
the contents page. The
page however is very
minimalist and has no
photos and there are no
focal points to draw in the
readers eye.

Chelmer valley high schools logo

of the swan has been deliberately
placed here as we are readers in
the west read from the top left to
the bottom right in a z motion.

The spine liner of the cover page Is also in

serif font and is black, its background of
the spine is violet and yellow, which
contributes to the informal approach the
magazine is presenting. With this
deliberate use of clashing vibrant colours,
it pulls us in.

There is no use of colour coordination

on this magazine colour, and no use of
background colour either. Its also very
simplistic and minimalistic with no
context to support the images
presented on the page. However, this
could also be used as an advantage as
it wills us to open the magazine to the
contents of the magazine.

The variation of images presented

across the cover page illustrates the
variation of activities which Chelmer
valley high school partake in. These
images distract us from the
minimalism of the cover page, with
its lack of content.

The font used on the cover page is serif

font which gives a sense of quirkiness
and informality; this is enhanced by the
use of bold red writing underlined by a
blue line.

The masthead is on the top left side of

the page, this could be due to the fact
that we as readers visualize a page
from the top left to the right and so
forth, this instantly grips the reader
and presents to them the schools
name and logo so they are instantly
familiar with the magazine theyre
reading and which school. The font of
FOCUS is in capitalised bold writing,
the typography of the title is in
uppercase which suggests formality.

The Moulsham logo is at the top

right corner and stands out and is
recognisable. It also coordinates
with the colour of the magazine
which is navy- this correlates with
moulshams school colour

The banner underneath the masthead

and the logo introduces us to the article
and familiarises us with what were
going to read. Underneath it gives the
content of what is in the magazine. The
consistent use of navy compliments the
colour scheme of the magazine, and
familiarizes the reader.

The flash at the bottom of the page

shows the schools specialization in
humanities and academic status
There isnt one main image, but a
variation of images which present the
different activities which take place
throughout the school. However, this
makes the page overcrowded and
overwhelming to the reader as there is
no ordered layout.
