Social Media
Almost every day, people use social media. These days, people rely on social
media. The positive effects of social media outweigh the negative. It helps spread
information faster and to more people than ever before. It helps people throughout the
world connect, and stay connected, in ways previously unavailable. This connection
helps bring people together and even saves lives.
When issuing an Amber Alert for a missing child, or posting information regarding
a lost child, social media spreads the information faster and to a greater audience than
traditional methods such as a news or radio broadcast. People quickly receive notices
on their phones by news alerts. Social media websites, such as Facebook and Twitter,
spread the word resulting in more awareness of the situation and eyes watching for the
child. Social media conveys information regarding disasters around the world. People
are able to send messages to friends and family informing them of their safety. Help
organizes quickly and pours in from around the world.
People move more than ever before and greater distances for work and school.
Social media helps people stay in contact with friends and family. They post pictures
and comments on social media and participate in live video chats. The ability to view
and interact together in real time helps people stay connected with each other and
share the happenings of their lives faster than regular mail and better than phone calls.
Social media connects people looking for other people. People search for longlost friends or family. People use social media to find friends and family that they knew
years ago in school or the military. Adopted children search for biological parents.
Employees post positions available where they work, and people looking for
employment post their resumes and the type of position they seek. Dating websites
connect people looking for other people.
Social media changed the way people share information, find each other, and
stay connected to one another. These positive results of social media affect the world.
The world becomes a smaller, happier place when people use the ability to reach out
and connect to each other.
