ABOUT THE COLLEGE

Our Vision is To emerge and sustain as a center
of excellence for technical and managerial
education upholding social values. Velammal
College of Engineering and Technology, was
established in the year 2007 to impart quality
technical education. It is a self financing nonminority institution approved by All India Council
of Technical Education. This College was founded
by Shri. M.V. Muthuramalingam, a Professional
Civil Engineer and Chairman of Velammal
Educational Trust, Chennai.
VCET is an integral part of the civic, urban and
artistic energy of Madurai and uses the entire city
as a living classroom that broadens our students
understanding of the world around them. Our
college has been accredited by National
Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC)
with A Grade and has recently undergone the
process of NBA Accreditation. Team VCET is
endowed with richly experienced and well
qualified faculty in all disciplines. Periodic visits
by eminent Professors, Scientists, Educational
Administrators and Acheivers from all walks of

Now a days we concentrate on Outcome Based
Education for our students to become employable in
the job market. This programme focuses on such
methodologies to enable the student to understand and
apply the concepts in the real world.

To train the participants to analyse

indeterminate beams and trusses using energy
theorems.

To enable the participants to assess the

behavior of columns, beams and failure of
materials.

To introduce the subject in the proper

perspective and to have better and deeper
knowledge.

mould Civil Engineering aspirants as competent and
dynamic infrastructure developers. Our Civil
Department was established in the year 2011 and it
offers one UG course in B.E.Civil Engineering. The
