Innovation and Change in Education - Leadership.


The Change Leader Questions.
Michael Fullan (2001) suggests that there are 5 essential aspects that
characterize change leaders today. They are:

Moral purpose
Understanding change
Improving relationship
Knowledge creation and sharing
Coherence making

Select two of these essential aspects and explain them in detail using an
example related to educational leadership in schools.
a) Aspect 1: understanding change
Leaders should understand the change well and the reasoning
beyond the change because if they do not understand they will not
be able to apply the change and encourage others. Also, leaders
should innovate by choosing logical and coherence ideas not just
change without choosing good and logical ideas. Moreover, having
the ideas is not enough all leaders should work together and
cooperatively to assess each other ideas. Furthermore, leaders also
should lead to deep results and lasting change; stakeholders should
understand that change should last and develop it not just apply it
once.
b) Aspect 2: Improving relationships
Improving relationship is significantly important between leaders
and schools. Also, if relationship improve schools also get better and
develop because they sharing ideas and thoughts. Furthermore,
emotional intelligence is highly important in leaders because if they
have this strength they can make good relationship. Relationships
are needed when make change because it will not happen it needs
cooperative work and all stakeholders put their hands together with
positive relationship.
Think of a person that you know or knew who you considered to have the
qualities of a good leader. They dont have to be a Principal; they can have
any role.
My principal is great and she have a really good number of qualities that
made her to be good leader. She is a good listen, she have communication

skills and inspiring skills. Also, she except change and see it as positive
thing.
Describe who they are and two qualities they have/had and how they used
these that you considered necessary for effective leadership for change and
sustainable improvement.
Improving relationships: she is always communicating with other schools and
stakeholders in the school. She is very active person who seeks relationships,
give and share opinions and this I vitally important to made the change.
Second is understanding change and she go to the workshops and other
schools top deeply understand the change. She also keep pace with country
development and know about any recent changes that happening. Moreover,
she meets the teachers to tell them about the change because they play a
big role in this change so she is not understand it by herself she also make
sure that teachers also understand it.
