prevalent foodborne disease with
worldwide importance
Salmonella
enteric
serovar
Enteritidis (SE) is one of Salmonella
serotype
of
public
health
significance because of its intrinsic
ability to contaminate intact eggs
Poultry (broilers, breeders and
commercial layers) are important
reservoirs of SE and generally
clinical signs will not be apparently
observed in infected flocks
Rodents, such as the common
house mouse (Mus musculus) and
wild roof rats play a major role in
the transmission and maintenance
of SE contamination cycles in
poultry facilities
SE is recognized as a unique threat
to food safety and trade growth
