The Task: In the light of the information given in the case, set out the essential elements of the HR strategy you would devise to support the achievement of the business strategy.
The essential elements of the HR strategy, if I am to devise such, would
be:
Ensure that the goals and performance of individual employees
are aligned with department and company goals;
Ensure that employees at all levels have the capability to support
the achievement of current and future business goals;
Build employee commitment to company goals and abilities,
including confidence and decision making ability to accomplish current and future business goals;
Ensure that employees have a work environment that supports
their well-being;
Deeper knowledge and understanding of the business strategy
can identify potential threats and opportunities in the quantity and quality of human resource required by the organisation, this in turn will identify the key components of the HR strategy and the virtuous circle of providing whatever the organisation needs for success;
Reinforce acceptable standards of performance;
Identify, recognize and reward behaviours;
Create and install a robust performance management process
that sets out performance objectives for all levels of staf;
Provide the cornerstone of building both organizational and
individual capability to ensure a secure company, and;
Ensure that employees can adapt to meet changing needs.
The presence of the given elements will lead to the development
of an HR strategy with a clear future, direction and mission aligned to support the achievement of the business strategy.
