Having listened to a debate about UK university tuition fees I was able to draw some conclusion regarding this topic. I will
try to put forward some of the most important opinions of the participants.
To begin with, tuition fees have always represented an impediment especially for foreign students, as tuition fees arent the
only taxes they have to pay in order to study at a high standard university. Fortunately, the government has thought about
a solution regarding this problem, as fees starting from 9000$ per year are not so easy to pay. The solution they came up
with are loans that every student can make in order to maintain a high standard of the universities. As universities are
facing substantial cuts in funding from government, one of the few solution is to make fees higher, and it is
understandable. The government has cut 40% of the direct funding for all universities in the UK.
Another point of view, one which I regard as being very coherent, is that access to university should be based on the
ability to learn, not the ability to pay taxes. The solution would be to lower the tuition fees as much as possible, in order to
grant access to the less wealthy students as well. A recent research encourages this way of thinking, because it has
shown that more than a half of the most successful people worldwide, especially in the scientific area, come from rather
poor environments, but have managed to overcome their _____.condiie
In conclusion, I personally regard the lowering of the tuition fees as being one of the most fair decisions made by the
universities in the UK, in order to allow all kinds of students, regardless of their wealth, to study at high standard
universities.
Introduction
The purpose of this proposal is to suggest ways in which our neighbourhood could develop in order to become an
appropriate environment for the next generation, aiming the following areas: environmental issues, leisure, education and
housing.
Current issues
One of the most problematic situation the people are confronted with is the low number of educational institutions. There is
only a single high school available and three primary schools. This is unacceptable, as most of the children have to travel
long ways to their learning units which are far away. Environmental issues are highly present as well, as there is only one
park to be found and no other green spaces are available. When it comes to relaxation, leisure centres are also nowhere
to be found in our neighbourhood, an this is a rather deranging fact, as there are lots of teenagers and young adults living
here. It is also known that all young adults are searching for a place to live in, and despite this, there are few to none in
this area. Not to mention that the prices are fairly high for people who have just finished their studies.
Ideas to be implemented
-

Building a University and trying to attract some of the best students and professors as well
Improving the biodiversity in our park and creating more green spaces
Creating leisure facilities at low prices for the large amount of people who are interested
Building a residential area in order to satisfy the great demand for housing

Conclusion

Although there is a large number of problems waiting for a solution, implementing the aforementioned project would highly
increase the positive feedback among the inhabitants of our neighbourhood, as most of their demands would be satisfied
