Mu Alpha Theta: National Mathematics Honor Society
Mu Alpha Theta is an organization whose purpose is to stimulate
mathematics by providing public recognition of superior mathematical
scholarship and by promoting various mathematical activities. It is cosponsored by the Mathematical Association of America, the National
Council of Teachers of Mathematics, the Society for Industrial and
Applied Mathematics, and the American Mathematical Association of
Two-Year Colleges. There are now over 2200 chapters in the United
States and twenty foreign countries. Colleges and major universities
recognize membership in Mu Alpha Theta as an important part of a
students academic resum. Topics presented during club meetings,
participation in our free mathematics competition, and the interest
generated by these activities help members to gain a greater
understanding and enjoyment of mathematics.

Student Eligibility Requirements

Full Membership:
GPA of 3.5 or above in your math courses only
Completed (or placed out of) Algebra I, Geometry, and Algebra
II
Associate Membership:
Completed Algebra I
Enrolled in a more advanced course

Mu Alpha Theta Activities

Please note that attendance to Mu Alpha Theta activities is
mandatory.
Meetings will occur once or twice a month, held at Thursday
lunchtime in Dr. Yuens room
Service activities (math tutoring)
Host school-wide and inter-school mathematics competitions
Promote mathematics within our school community
