The New York Times is a very reliable source for news about the world. As a part
of their Obituaries section within the New York Times website, an article called
Jesse Owens: A Chilly Reception in Nazi Germany, Then Olympic Glory
highlights the stand that Owens took in Germany at the culmination of the 1936
Olympic Games. This primary source was used to contribute to my overall
understanding with quotes from Jesse Owens and other significant figures in his
life.

of their website, there are obituaries about people who have died. The author,
Frank Litsky, attended the University of Connecticut and has been with the New
York Times since 1958. He has written over 3,700 articles for the news outlet. His
obituary, Jesse Owens Dies of Cancer at 66; Hero of the 1936 Berlin Olympics,
emphasizes Jesses life after the Olympics and the struggles he faced getting to
that profound stage of his stage. This primary source was used in the section of

promote the development of youth to their fullest potential. Friends and family
established the foundation in 1980 after Jesses death, and the foundation had
provided more than 600 people with a college education. The Jesse Owens
section of the Jesse Owens Foundation website highlights Owens early life,
accomplishments at Ohio State, triumphs on the Olympic stage, and his enduring
legacy. This source will be used to give me more context and legacy, and it serves
as a secondary source for the subject.
