The Change Leader Questions.

Michael Fullan (2001) suggests that there are 5 essential aspects that characterize
change leaders today. They are:
1.
2.
3.
4.
5.

Moral Purpose.
Understanding changes.
Improving relationship.
Knowledge creating and sharing.
Coherence making.

Select two of these essential aspects and explain them in detail using an example
related to educational leadership in schools.
a) Aspect 1 (Moral Purpose):
it is what when the leader has a responsibility into school community and built that the
positive environment that support the members inside that community including all the
chain of command in a school starting from the leader which is the principal then the
vice principal, the administer staff, teachers, students, bus supervisor, cleaners canteen
workers, bus drivers. For example, during my TP I saw many examples of the principal
moral in the school and I impressed in how she deal with members. She tries to involve
and communicate with everybody inside this community and she was really caring about
their humanity and feelings which is the basic of moral purpose.

b) Aspect 2 (Knowledge creating and sharing):

This aspect supports the school community when it having a leadership in the school.
Creating and sharing in leader supports in having effective members into school because
it is the essential for sharing and creating knowledge between the leader and other
members. This is will lead to sustainable growth and positive change into community. For
example, during the TP I note how the principal communicate and discuss the teachers
by sharing them the idea's and tries to involve them to create the activities.

Think of a person that you know or knew who you considered to have the qualities of a
good leader. They dont have to be a Principal; they can have any role.
Describe who they are and two qualities they have/had and how they used these that
you considered necessary for effective leadership for change and sustainable
improvement.

As an Emirati women, the greatest example is Shaikh Zayed

Bin Sultan Al Nahyan -Alla mercy him-. One day he said
Money is not useful if it is not dedicated for serving people.
The person who say that and acted what he said and turned
the deserts to green deserve to be proud of him and he is the
greatest leader in our life. Shaikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan
mixed political savvy with attention to development needs,
providing assistance to those less fortunate. Shaikh Zayed
Bin Sultan Al Nahyan was an honorable man who earned
widespread respect, as he became a great leader, relying on
his impeccable faith and legendary intuition. A first
assessment of his significant contributions to Emirati, Arab,
Muslim and international affairs must be his conscious efforts
to transform a backwater hamlet into a vibrant country,
which stood for justice, generosity and the culture of life.
Remembered as "the man who turned the desert green", the humble Shaikh Zayed
embarked on a massive forestation scheme (more than 250 million trees planted since
1972 and counting) that literally converted some of the region's harsh desert
environments into pockets of greenness. It was Shaikh Zayed who accomplished
sensational feats. Above all else, and long before oil ushered in financial wealth, Shaikh
Zayed valued human capital. He once queried this writer on the changes observed in the
federation, intrigued by, and happy to hear, comments that shed light on the progress
within Emiratis. What interested him most were human advancements. It may be fair,
therefore, to assert that this truly impressive man held the view that opportunities
bestowed on the UAE should not, indeed could not, be wasted.
