Emerging Mobile Ad-Hoc Networks (MANETs) whic h do not need ac c ess points, but rely on peer-to-peer c onnec tions, are bec oming
suitable platforms for exc hanging or sharing real-time video streams due to rec ent progress in routing algorithms, throughput and
transmission bit-rate. In this paper, a multi-sourc e streaming approac h is presented to inc rease the robustness of realtime video
transmission in MANETs whic h are c harac terized by highly dynamic behavior of the transmission routes and path outage probabilities.
Video c oding as well as c hannel c oding tec hniques on applic ation layer are introduc ed exploiting the multi-sourc e representation of the
transferred media. Sourc e c oding is based on the Sc alable Video Coding (SVC) extension of H.264/MPEG4-AVC. Channel c oding is based
on a new Un-equal Pac ket Loss Protec tion (UPLP) sc heme, whic h is based on Raptor forward error c orrec tion c odes. Furthermore, an
applic ation layer protoc ol is introduc ed for supporting peer-to-peer based multi-sourc e streaming in MANETs.
