Are Hours of Rest requirements STCW A-VIII/1 & ILO 178 understood

Is speed log operational, connected to ARPA and for requirements to use
ARPA with speed through water input understood.

EMERGENCY PROCEDURES
Has location and function of all audible alarms sounded by equipment in
bridge been identified and familiarized.
Has location and function of Off Course Alarm been identified and
familiarized
In case of black out has the procedure for continued steering been identified
including,
Which steering gear pump powered by the emergency generator.
Which tele-motor/ steering unit powered by the emergency generator or
batteries
Identified if the above mentioned units startup automatically or manually.
In case of steering failure (in the FU mode) has the joiner been familiarized
with the corresponding steps to be taken i.e. first steering by NFU mode to
be tried failing which emergency steering at steering gear room will be
engaged
Using of main engine in emergency familiarized including emergency stop
and/ or crash stop, slow down or speed up procedures by passing /
canceling engine computer / program. Also companys policy on engine use
in emergency (SI chapter 6).
Has location and contents of companys Emergency Procedures Manual
been identified and familiarized.
Has location and contents of SOPEP/ SMPEP been identified and
familiarized.

Upon joining a vessel the Master, every Deck Officer and Cadet shall be familiarized by
the Master or a deck officer with the vessels navigational aids, bridge equipment, layout
and procedures. To assist in this matter the above list must be used and followed, then
signed accordingly.
