Distance learning can also increase opportunities for students across the globe, ensuring that
students don't have to choose a school based solely on its location.
In many ways, taking a IASHEP distant learning course is similar to a traditional face-to-face course.
You will still have an IASHEP instructor to work with you on your class assignments and also offer
you education assistance if needed. All of the elements of a traditional course the syllabus, the
course material, textbooks, lectures, discussions, tests and grades will be part of your distant learning
course.
Global Training Opportunities To Obtain U.S. Professional Credentials and University
Degrees.
Distance learning features a number of advantages, particularly for non-U.S. students seeking an
accredited U.S. degree. Perhaps the most relevant benefit involves the luxury of remaining in your
home country while studying -- and consequently avoiding the inconvenience of applying for a student
visa to study in the United States. Other advantages include:
Accessibility for those living away from the training center No waste of time or other resources in
transport, commuting to a central location for classroom training
Flexibility to study in any convenient location with an Internet connection
Self-paced learning Quickly browse materials you have already mastered, and concentrate time
and effort in areas containing new information and / or skills
Study materials at a personal speed and intensity, without having to wait or slower pace of the
average classroom Just-in-time learning; more opportunities to study the most current material
available
Flexibility for those with irregular work schedules
Accessibility for those with restricted mobility (e.g., handicapped, injured, elderly) Accessibility for
those with family responsibilities (e.g., parents with young children at home)

Course Description:
This classroom and or distant learning program is designed for individuals who
work from, or operate, boom lifts, scissor lifts and/or push-around equipment. This
course covers all the safety aspects regarding pre- and post-use checks, regulations,
fall protection and general use. The course format includes a combination of
presentation, question and answer, practical application and final exam. Aerial lifts,
also known as boom lifts, bucket trucks, and cherry pickers, are used throughout
construction and general industry workplaces.
Even though aerial lifts are generally safer than ladders, or climbing to height,
more than 26 workers are killed every year in accidents. During a seven-year
period, there were 207 fatal aerial lift accidents. The most common accidents and
fatalities related to aerial lifts were electrocution (69) and falls (64), which represent
more than half of fatalities.
To prevent these types of injuries OSHA requires employees to receive training on
aerial lifts before using them in the workplace. This training program is designed to
provide that training.

Program Overview
OSHA's asbestos standard for general industry at 29 CFR 1910.1001(j)(7)(iv)
requires employers to provide an asbestos awareness training course for
employees who perform housekeeping operations in areas where an asbestoscontaining material (ACM) or presumed asbestos-containing material (PACM) is
present.
The elements of the course must include the health effects of asbestos; locations,
signs of damage and deterioration of ACM and PACM; the proper response to fiber
release episodes; and the standard's requirements related to housekeeping. This
training must be held annually and conducted so that all employees understand it.
Asbestos Awareness training course provides students with the information they will
need to identify work areas where asbestos may be present, understand the harmful
effects of asbestos, describe methods to avoid asbestos exposure, and become
familiar with OSHA and EPA standards designed to protect workers on the job site,
among many other important topics.
Students who should take this course are those who may be exposed to asbestos
on the work site.
This training is NOT for those workers that perform asbestos abatement activities,
and does not provide equipment training for workers required to use personal
protective equipment (PPE) on the job site.
Additional training with site-specific protective equipment must be provided by the employer
using the equipment that will be used on site prior to or at the time of initial assignment.

Program Overview
Training of custodial and maintenance workers is one of the keys to a successful
operations and maintenance (O&M) program. If building owners do not emphasize
the importance of well-trained custodial and maintenance personnel, asbestos O&M
tasks may not be performed properly. This could result in higher levels of asbestos
fibers in the building air and an increased risk to building workers and occupants.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requires employers to
institute and ensure participation in a worker training program for employees
exposed to fiber levels (either measured or anticipated) at or above the permissible
exposure limit (0.1 fibers per cubic centimeter (f/cc) as an 8-hour, time-weighted
average (TWA) and/or the excursion limit (1.0 f/cc as a 30-minute TWA). This
training program consists of an initial training period, the duration of which is
determined by the type of work the employee performs, and annual refresher
training.
Types of Training
As an illustration of the different types of maintenance worker training, below are
two out of the three types of training under the EPA regulations.
Type 1: Awareness Training
This training is for maintenance and custodial staff involved in cleaning and minor
maintenance tasks where ACM may be accidentally disturbed.

New changes to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration's (OSHA)
Hazard Communication Standard are bringing the United States into alignment with
the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals (GHS),
further improving safety and health protections for America's workers. Building on
the success of OSHA's current Hazard Communication Standard, the GHS is
expected to prevent injuries and illnesses, save lives and improve trade conditions
for chemical manufacturers. The Hazard Communication Standard in 1983 gave the
workers the right to know,' but the new Globally Harmonized System gives workers
the right to understand.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion, the student will be able to identify major changes in the Safety
Data Sheet (formally Material Safety Data Sheet) format, identify Safety and Health
Labeling requirements, describe the new GHS Pictograms and Signal Words that
identify the hazards associated with a given chemical, understand the basics of the
new system for Hazard Classification, and recognize employer requirements to
prepare for and implement the new requirements.

Program Overview
Training of custodial and maintenance workers is one of the keys to a successful
operations and maintenance (O&M) program. If building owners do not emphasize
the importance of well-trained custodial and maintenance personnel, asbestos
O&M tasks may not be performed properly. This could result in higher levels of
asbestos fibers in the building air and an increased risk to building workers and
occupants.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requires employers to
institute and ensure participation in a worker training program for employees
exposed to fiber levels (either measured or anticipated) at or above the
permissible exposure limit (0.1 fibers per cubic centimeter (f/cc) as an 8-hour,
time-weighted average (TWA) and/or the excursion limit (1.0 f/cc as a 30-minute
TWA). This training program consists of an initial training period, the duration of
which is determined by the type of work the employee performs, and annual
refresher training.
According to the EPA regulations governing schools, all school staff custodial and
maintenance workers who conduct any activities that may result in the disturbance
of asbestos-containing building material (ACBM) must receive 16 hours of O&M
training (comprised of 2 hours of Awareness Training and 14 hours of Special
O&M Training).
Types of Training
As an illustration of the different types of maintenance worker training, below are
two out of the three types of training under the EPA regulations governing
schools:
Type 1: Awareness Training
This training is for maintenance and custodial staff involved in cleaning and minor
maintenance tasks where ACM may be accidentally disturbed.

Course Length: 1 Day .8 CEU
Course Credential: (CHSGT)
(Note: Refresher certification is required every three years to maintain
professional credential.)
Course Fees: $295.00
Course Description:
This course covers the hazard of working where Hydrogen Sulfide Gas may be present.
(H2S). Hydrogen Sulfide Gas (also known as H2S, sewer gas, swamp gas, stink damp,
and sour damp) is a colorless gas known for its pungent "rotten egg" odor at low
concentrations. It is extremely flammable and highly toxic also occurs naturally in sewers,
manure pits, well water, oil and gas wells, refiners, sanitation landfills and sanitation
processing facilities and elsewhewre. Because it is heavier than air, hydrogen sulfide can
collect in low-lying and enclosed spaces, such as manholes, sewers, and underground
telephone vaults. Its presence makes work in confined spaces potentially very dangerous.
It is essential that workers who work in areas where H2S may be present and especially
oil & gas and refinery workers be trained to understand and recognize the hazards
associated with Hydrogen Sulfide (H2S) gas. As stated previously, Hydrogen Sulfide,
more commonly known as sour gas, is a flammable, colorless gas that is toxic at
extremely low concentrations. It is heavier than air and smells like "rotten eggs". Once
exposed, it can quickly cause you to lose your sense of smell. Exposure to Hydrogen
Sulfide gas can be fatal
Student Learning Objectives:
This H2S training course will teach the student how to properly prepare for, identify, and
react to Hydrogen Sulfide Exposure. The course includes information on H2S physical
and chemical properties, as well as common sources, controls, and best practices. It has

Program Introduction
When building owners, hospitals , nursing homes, homeowners and others are recovering
from flood damage, they need a certified technician who has completed certified mold
remediation courses. Water can cause major problems with textiles, carpets, furniture, clothing and
other organic materials. Items that are soaked in contaminated water can start growing microbes in as
little as 24 hours.
During a severe flood, its common for a building to be filled with dirty water for several days,
practically ensuring that microbes have infested the area. If they are not treated properly, these
organisms can multiply and eventually cause serious health complications. They are rather difficult to
eradicate without the proper procedures that are predicated by proper training. For this reason,
building owners need people who are trained specifically in the field of mold remediation
IASHEP also offers a 40 hour Mold Remediation Course.
Course Topics Include:
