circular mils. Find the equivalent area of the conductor in m . If the resistance of the
conductor per 1000m and at 500C is 0.0175 ohms, find its resistance at 20 0C. The
constant T for Aluminum is 228.
A conductor of radius 0.6 cm carries a current of 150A at 50 Hz. Find flux linkage
between two points external to the conductor at a distance of 30 cm and 200 cm
respectively from the centre of the conductor.
Find inductive voltage drop for the conductor of question 1.(b) due to internal flux if
the length of the conductor is 1km.

Considering the effect of earth, deduce the expression for capacitance of a single
phase line.
A single phase 6.6 kV, 50 Hz line has two conductors supported horizontally at a
height of 4m from the ground. Radius of each conductor of the line is 0.5cm and the
distance of separation between the conductors is 2.2m. Considering the effect of
earth, find the capacitance of the line for a length of 5km. Find the charging current
flowing through the line considering the effect of earth and without considering the
effect of earth respectively. Comment on the results thus obtained.

50km. Frequency =50Hz.
Conductors of three phase line are arranged as shown below: Distance between the
conductors is 4m and radius of each conductor is 0.45cm. Charges carried by
conductor A at any instant is 40 nC/m and those of conductors B & C each -20nC/m.
