Day 1: Reflection
A Write an assessment of the students performance and mastery in terms of
each stated objective. List each objectives evaluation separately
o PA Science S.K-2. D.2.1.1: Identify weather variables (i.e., temperature,
wind speed, wind direction, and precipitation).
Today we talked about temperature and precipitation. The
temperature idea was a review of the lesson from yesterday, but
it also had a lot to do with the lesson I taught today. We talked
about precipitation and clouds. I did the cloud demonstration
and had them identify different types of precipitation including
rain, snow, hail, and sleet.
o PA Science S.K-2.D.2.1.2: Identify how weather conditions affect daily
life.
We didnt talk much about how weather conditions affect daily
life. I did talk about the weather that was currently happening
outside (rain) when I was teaching the lesson, but I didnt get to
add anything else about weather affecting daily life.
B Write a self-evaluation including explanation for success or lack of it. Discuss:
what changes might have produced better results and could be used in
subsequent lessons.
o I thought todays lesson went pretty well. I was not super confident in
my management of the class. They were easily distracted and I wish I
would have demanded their attention more rather than moving along
without everyone respecting me and listening to the things being said.
C Explain what specific changes were implemented from professor and teacher
suggestions and the results (if suggestions were not taken, explain your
rationale).
o I made changes based on feedback that I got. Mrs. Bock suggested
that we move the students around from the lesson yesterday. I
planned to have the students move from the carpet, to the desks to
get them out of their seats and moving around. They definitely needed
the movement. I also changed my worksheet idea. I figured that the
flipbooks would take too long to make in one day, so I had them start
them today. I didnt get through everything I wanted them to with the
flip books but will have to edit my second lesson to incorporate time to
finish them. I also made changes based on Mrs. Dreves feedback. I
added a motion to the word precipitation and had the class chorally
say things to try to get everyone involved.
