A. Write an assessment of the students performance and mastery in terms of each stated objective. List each objectives evaluation separately o PA Environment and Ecology S4.B.1.1.3: Describe basic needs of plants and animals (e.g., air, water, food). I wanted to incorporate this standard into the lesson today but we were really short on time and I didnt talk with them about the needs of plants. o PA Civics and Government 5.1.3.F: Identify state symbols, national symbols, and national holidays. The students were able to identify the states flower. They learned about the flower and its characteristics. All of the students answered the exit slip accurately except for one student. She wrote the months the flower bloom instead of the season, but those months were correct so I would consider it successful. B. Write a self-evaluation including explanation for success or lack of it. Discuss: what changes might have produced better results and could be used in subsequent lessons. o I thought todays lesson went well. I felt in control of the classroom for most of the time. I felt like I asserted my authority today and made it clear to the students what my expectations were for our riddle activity. I think the students enjoyed the riddle activity. I think the lessons to come should also include some sort of activity. I feel that the lesson goes more smoothly and the students are more engaged when they are interested in the activity that is going on. C. Explain what specific changes were implemented from professor and teacher suggestions and the results (if suggestions were not taken, explain your rationale). o I added a map at the beginning as part of my anticipatory set and had a student identify where Harrisburg, PA is. We didnt do that in the lesson the day before, but I felt like it was necessary for the students to know where to locate it on a map. I made my lesson shorter today as Ms. Hare requested because of the fall festivities that were taking place. I also added the bee fact into the lesson because I thought it was really interesting and the kids might enjoy it.
