So, youre interested in joining the Anononian Defence Force?

Well so far thats certainly

one wise decision under your belt, now lets look into this a little bit further

The Anononian Defence Force or ADF is what we would call a Militia. It is a group of
able bodied men and women who are trained in the use of weapons and equipment to assist in
the protection of the island of Anononia from both foreign and domestic enemies of the
country and its population.

Now if we look at the actual definition of a 'Militia'.

Quote:
The term militia (pronounced Mil-I-Sha is commonly used today to refer to a military
force composed of ordinary citizens to provide defense, emergency law enforcement, or
paramilitary service, in times of emergency without being paid a regular salary or
committed to a fixed term of service. It is a polyseme with multiple distinct but related
meanings.

Now if we look at the Anononian Defence Force as something similar to a Militia, I propose
that the ADF would be a Marine force using both naval and standard army skills to protect
the Anononian lands and territorial waters from invasion or attack. All soldiers would be
trained in both the naval elements of combat such as the defence and protection of a vessel,
the assault of enemy vessels, naval patrolling and also the boarding and searching of other
vessels as well as the army skills such as patrolling on land as a section, section attacks,
ambushes, guerrilla warfare and the protection of a fixed position versus both naval and land
assault.

Due to the nature of Anononias location it does mean that a full time large scale military is
probably not going to be necessary but with a well-trained group with the proper equipment
and know how could quickly respond to any kind of incident varying from invasion to the
capture of a law breaker or even just assisting after some kind of natural disaster.
All Anononian Defence Force personnel would be issued with a basic uniform consisting of
four elements.

Personal Protection
Hygiene and Administration
Survival and Bush craft
Uniform

Personal protection kit would consist of;

Standard issue AK-47 Variant Assault Rifle
3 Standard Aluminium 30 Round AK-47 Magazines

Hygiene and Administration;

Basic DPM wash kit (Toothbrush, Tooth Paste, Razor, Shaving Cream, Body Wash, Mirror)
A5 Notepad holder and Notepad with working Pen
2 Standard Issue Mess Tins
1 Water bottle or Hydration Bladder
Bug spray/Mosquito spray

Survival and Bushcraft;

Survival Tin (Wire Saw, Para cord, Tinder, Matches, Candle, Mirror, Compass )
Standard Issue Right Angle Torch with Red light
First Field Dressing (FFD) and bites and blisters kit
Folding Entrenchment Tool

Uniform;
Woodland DPM Tank Suit (All in one suit)

The ADF uniform is designed so that our marines can be as best equipped as possible for as
many situations as possible. We want our men to not only have the physical strength required
to perform well but for their uniform and equipment to not hold them back but add strength to
strength to give our men the fighting advantage over any other.
Like any military organisation the Anononian Defence Force will rely upon its solid rank
structure and leadership to provide the proper support and training to its soldiers. The rank
structure is built up so every soldier is within a unit, and every unit has a proper commander
who then reports to a senior officer for his orders and then he finally reports to the two
commanding officers.

Each Rank has its own duties which must be carried out in full so that the entire force may
work together effectively.

Private;
Its the duty of the private to carry out orders as they are given and to complete his or
hers orders as effectively as possible.
Corporal;
Its the duty of the Corporal to maintain the sections welfare, he makes sure that
every soldier is properly equipped and in a fit state to carry on battle and reports it
back to the sergeant.
Sergeant;
Its the duty of the Sergeant to manage and lead the section as a whole, making sure
that they work as a team and carry out their orders as to the Lieutenants command.
Lieutenant;
The Lieutenant is in control of the Platoon as a whole (2 Sections) and making both
sections work together in the field and carry out the specified orders as well as issue
orders and work as the frontline commander.
Captain;
It is the duty of the captain to plan and maintain the administration of the entire force
and work as high commander and overseer over all operation

The structure is laid out in such a way that every man has someone of his rank or of a rank
above to plan and decide with so that they can check and double check orders and make sure
everything will work as planned. It is then down to the people of ranks below to carry out the
orders and make sure that everything goes to plan.

The Rank structure also allows for someone with the additional knowledge and will power to
receive a proper reward for their additional effort to the ADF by promotion. Giving them
more responsibility and more power over how things operate within the ADF.
While the ADF certainly isnt something for everyone it is a life choice that can really affect
how things pan out for you in the future. The Anononian Defence Force can give you the
skills necessary to achieve a successful and happy future for yourself and your loved ones as
well as the proper training and equipment to protect that future. The Anononian Defence
Force is not designed as a walk in the park, it is challenging both physically and mentally and
will let every person on the course stretch their boundaries and expand on any military
knowledge they already have.

As a Marine unit the ADF will teach you not only core military principals such as Field craft,
Shooting and Fitness but also how to steer and maintain a rib or small vessel, how to control
and maintain a larger vessel and obviously how to correctly disembark from a boat onto land
and other ships. All lessons are taught as a group allowing the unit to bond and grow together
meaning you will have the camaraderie and friendship the same as any military organisation.

The ADF asks you to attend a complete 30 hour course so that every recruit is trained to the
basic military equivalent and then one Sunday of every month after that to top up your
training and expand on the skills you have already learned. This also allows for peer
instruction, those who have been many Sundays and have been in the force longer can pass
down their knowledge to the newer recruits on their first Sunday.

The Initial training is spread over 10, 3 hour sessions, one every day for 2 working weeks
(Mon-Fri) which as I said above will stretch you both physically and mentally and is
designed to both teach you and break you. It includes an exhausting fitness regime, pin point
shooting and fully kitted up military exercises. You will run, fight and shoot till exhaustion
and after it all you will be the very finest Anononia has to offer. The elite in both army and
navy as well as a member of the fine Anononian Defence Force.

You will be a part of a final military parade giving you the ADF armband to attach to your
uniform to show your experience and completion of the Anononian Defence Force entrance
course as well as to show that you are a member of the fine Anononian Militia to any
members of the public. It is at this point when you will be asked to sign the Declaration of
Service stating your servitude to the Elder Council and people of Anononia.
Q: How many weeks training is it?
A: The initial training is only 30 hours, it is spread over 10
days (2 working weeks) with a 3 hour session each day.

Q: What happens if I dont pass the training?

A: You are always welcome to attend the course again if you
fail it the first time and are absolutely to attend it again
even if you pass.

Q: What happens if I cant make every training day?

A: The Initial training must be attended 100% if you are ill
you may miss training although you must be confirmed
medically sick by a doctor or first aider.

Q: Do I have to shoot people?

A: While obviously you shouldnt expect this as a daily
occurrence injury or death is always a last resort even
with the military. In all possible cases we will attempt to
negotiate or remove a threat with non-lethal procedures
first.

Q: Can we have relationships in the ranks or with an officer?

A: The answer is simply yes, while in many military
organisations fraternisation is absolutely out of the
question as the ADF is only a part time service we
absolutely allow relationships within the force.

Q: Can I not specialise in something not involving weapons?

A: All ADF are firstly trained as an Infantry soldier from
there they can then specialise in a specific training such as
navigation or even long range shooting and concealment
(sniping)
