Creating a Presentation with Voice

Objectives & Learning


Outcomes

Students will:
Incorporate digital and verbal feedback from their lab
report
Create a Google Slides Presentation
Receive feedback on their presentation
Present their lab report on the digital application
Voicethread

Rationale

Students have had experience creating a digital presentation with


a team, but not individually. Students will utilize the digital
application Voicethread to create an individual digital
presentation that they can publish to a larger audience. The
literature has shown that students have more motivation when
they know that they will publish to a larger audience.

Critical Thinking:
Students think critically when choosing how to present
their lab write up.
Collaboration:
Students collaborate with their teacher regarding digital
and verbal feedback from their previous lab report.
Communication:
Students practice written communication through the
creation of Google Slides.
Students practice oral communication through the creation
of Voicethread.
Students may choose to communicate with a larger
audience by sharing the Voicethread link with their
parents.
Creativity:
Students are given the platform to be as creative as they
choose while still including all elements of the lab report
and explaining them in their own way.

Preparation

Be prepared to teach students how to set up a voicethread

Time of Lesson

1 hour and 45 minutes

Procedure

Students incorporate feedback (15-20 minutes)


1. Students incorporate feedback from the previous lesson.
2. Teacher assists students as needed and has informal
consultations with each student as they revise their
reports.
Students transfer information (30 minutes)
1. Students create a Google Slides presentation based on
their lab report.
2. The presentation must include all components of the lab
report.
Model Voicethread application (15 minutes)
1. Show students how to create an account with their Gmail
and password.
2. Model how to upload a document and then add voice to
the document.
Students create a Voicethread (40 minutes)
1. Students create an account.
2. Students upload their Google Slides document.
3. Students record their voice explaining the lab write-up.
4. Students share link with teachers email and their parents
email.

Strategies

Students will be provided assistance as needed.


Students may choose to do this presentation in their native
language if they are a newcomer.

Differentiation

Students may be as simple or complex with this project as


they choose.

Assessment

Summative Assessment: Students will be assessed on


their presentation according to the rubric attached in
Appendix H.
