Lesson Title: Zombie Makeup (A lesson on texture using Liquid Latex)

Content Area: Visual Arts
Time to Complete: 5- 90 minute class periods
Task Description: The student will be introduced to FX makeup artists and images of their work. Day 1: TSW
learn how to use liquid latex. Day 2: TSW learn how to add more materials to liquid latex to create interesting
textures on skin. TSW also begin researching and developing ideas for their final look and photoshoot. Day 3:
TSW finalize their ideas with their group and blending techniques will be taught. Day 4&5: CREATE! The final
assignment is to create a photographic story by creating interesting textures on your skin. A portfolio of at least
5 images will be submitted to their digital portfolios.

Liquid latex, fake blood, stipple makeup brushes, black paint, hot glue, toilet paper, cereal and oatmeal,
safety pins, and any other props you see fit to try.

Project Info Sheet
Tell a story through a series of photographs using special effects makeup on your model to
create zombie looking textures on the skin.

Makeup is: blended well, reads correctly, created a new texture on the skin
Photos are: well composed, have a clear emphasis, the subject is the texture on the model, and tells
a story as a full series of 5+ photographs.
