DESIGN PROCEDURE
1.

Determine the speed ratio.

Choose suitable material(s) for the gear and pinion [Pg 8.4].
Note ultimate stress, u and yield stress, y for the selected material(s) [Pg 1.9].

Select the tooth profile and pressure angle.


Generally involute profile with pressure angle 14 or 20 is used.

Calculate the design torque (twisting moment).

20. Calculate the teeth dimensions.
