Purpose and character of the

project
The idea of the project is to popularize the implementation of active
learning methods based on educational projects with young children.
The children become "active learners", acquiring broader skills and
competencies that are important for being successful in life. The period
of kindergarten and primary school age is unique in the growth of man.
During this period, an intensive mental and physical development takes
place, which layers the foundations of the personality of the child.
Early childhood is the stage at which education can most effectively
influence the childrens development. The European Union therefore
wants all young children to be able to access and benefit from high
quality education and care. Reliable information on ECEC systems in
Europe is essential in order to understand what challenges are facing
European countries, what we can learn from each other, and what new
solutions might be developed to meet the needs of the youngest
members of society.

The project will develop curriculum based cooperation of preschool

teachers, by challenging them to use the skills of multicultural team
working to fulfill the outlined local and international project activities.
This will be further enhanced by development of preschool teaching
materials within the project process. Because early experiences affect
later education outcomes, providing young children with research-based
mathematics and science learning opportunities is likely to pay off with
increased achievement, literacy, and work skills in these critical areas.
High quality math and science educaiton given to the pre-school children
can both prevent learning difficulties in primary school period and plays
a key role for motivating pupils to the primary schools.
Therefore it is very important for the pupils to experience rich science
and maths educaitn which will be designed neatly.In the questionnarie
called " The problems in teaching science and maths in preschool term
and solving proposal" impemented to the teachers to the working in the
partner schools , the following points are striking; not given enough
opportunities to learn by doing-lived and to discover their own, Weak
attitude and achievement motivation for their children's math and
science activities;Inadequate and effective utilization of concrete
materials and educational toys,the lack of variety of used methods and
techniques.

Aims:

1.To improve the attainment of young people with low basic skills in numeracy,
literacy and science;
2. To develop high quality and accessible Early Childhood Education ;
3. To revise and strength the professional profile of the teaching professions;
4. To exchange experiences and good practice, carry out peer learning activities and
workshops;
5. To increase parent and child interaction time on basic mathematical and scientific
based activities;
6.To improve the schools approaches and teaching methods towards attaining and
developing skills in science and math;
7. To develop better learning strategies based on good-practices in all participating
schools;
8. To emphasize the quality of education in preschools and find solutions to increase
the cooperation with parents;
9.To share cultural diversities in preschool education;
10. To encourage teachers to introduce innovations;
11. To strengthen the professional skills of the preschool teachers.

TASKS:

Each school participating in our partnership is responsible for the

activities taking place in its own school. Each school has to report to its
own National Agency and demonstrate that it has implemented the
activities planned.The country hosting a project meeting will also be in
charge of the meeting and responsible for sending out the information
prior to the meeting.
During the working process all structured materials will be sent and
compiled by the institution hosting the meeting.
The distribution of tasks guarantees that everybody will actively
participate and that the "Good Start,Grow Smart" project we are willing
to start will contribute and leave its mark in the educational community.
Each partner will have the task of introducing and diffusing the project
within its local context and contributing to the good progress developing
the topics regarding its social context, then an active role in cooperation
with the other partners:

Expected results:

Lesson plan for teacher in early math and science practice:

Methods to assess children's math and science learning which put an emphasis
on children's empowerment and capacity to reflect on their own learning
processes.
During the collaboration of the project partners, 2 methodical handbooks ( 1 for
math and 1 for science) will make, which contains the best learning activities. The
methodical handbook is meant as a tool for teachers of participating
kindergartens to carry out math and science learning and educational work.
Set of methodological recommendations for using permanent learning to parents
Project website.
We also expect an improvement in the language abilities of the participants.
New methods and activities will be incorporated in school curricula.
Children, parents and education leaders will increase understanding of the
benefits of Early Childhood Care and Education
The children level of achievement and understanding in math and science will
raise.

TRANSNATIONAL MEETINGS
METHODOLOGY
3 times within the project period a
transnational working meeting will be
organised, where the partnership can discuss
the strategy, tasks and organisational details,
have discussions on results and analysis and
can have a common decision on important
questions.

SHORT TERM STAFF JOINT EVENTS

METHODOLOGY
The job shadowing activities will strengthen such
process as the teachers hosted will learn about the
hosting organization methods more in detail but
provide also support in the transfer of his/her own
practices. After the three thematic acitivities each
partner will carry out at local level the testing of
innovative practices learnt during the seminars.Visits
to the partners countries will allow the participants
to discuss the differences in the curriculums. During
these visits each partner will display their pre-school
teaching methods.

IMPLEMENTATON METHODOLOGY
Learning activities of the each Short term Staff
Joint Events will successfully integrate in all
the subjects as well as in extracurricular
events. In order to accomplish project's aims,
the teachers will share good educational
practices, experience, methods and tools of
teaching and evaluation.

EVALUATION METHODOLOGY
Our evaluation plan will create a framework for our learning
and understanding of what goes on during the partnership
and how the partnership activities have affected students,
teachers, coordinators, our schools and communities.
Additionally, the process will allow us to gather valuable
information to use for dissemination.
Additionally, coordinators and teachers will have to enter into
a process of progressive self-evaluation and teacher-toteacher evaluation. This process will make them focus on the
strengths and benefits of the activities in the phases as well as
the didactic weaknesses and limitations.

DISSEMINATION METHODOLOGY
The methodology is strongly based on all the above
mentioned sections describing why, what, who, to
whom, and how the knowledge about "Good Start,
Grow Smart "will be disseminated.
The methodology includes principles of planning
dissemination activities, performing them, and ways
of reporting.Moreover the methodology defines the
responsibilities (who is responsible for what) as well
as the way of collecting and updating information
and data.

Sustainabillity
Final products will be important for teaching material that can
be used after the project, in the project schools and other
schools interested.
Good practice guide "Math in kindergarten " and " Science in
Kindergarten" translated into partner languages will allow
free access to the public via the Internet and will be
applicable to long-term partner in the national curriculum of
schools.
In the curriculum will be introduced optional (school
curriculum) that will be based on the ideas implemented in
this project.
We will develop a national partnership with kindergartens in
the country interested in the theme of the project.
