Griffin Construction Dewatering provides:

Deep Well Systems

Wellpoint Systems

Eductor Systems

Filtration and Treatment

The Deep Well System is also a versatile predrainage dewatering system which can pump
high and low volumes of groundwater. This method is best suited to homogeneous aquifers
that extend well below the bottom of the excavation. Deep well systems consist of one or
more individual wells, each of which has its own submersible pump at the bottom of the well.
Deep well systems are suitable for water-table or confined aquifers and will lower the water
table 100 feet or more in a single lift without staging.
Griffin Dewatering offers effective and innovative turn-key solutions to groundwater control problems
using Deep Wells. We offer a full professional service from initial design, drilling, supply and
installation of pumping equipment together with all associated appurtenances.
Advantages:

Ability to penetrate strata impervious to the jetting method of wellpoint systems

Installation of up to 100 feet deep or more in a single stage

Capable of pumping tens to thousands of gallons per minute per well

Deep Wells can be effective when placed outside of the jobsite work area

Deep well dewatering systems are used when large volumes of groundwater must be pumped, highly
permeable soils result in rapid recharging of the aquifer, and/or the depth of excavation excludes
other dewatering methods.

Well Point Systems

The Well Point System is one of the most versatile of pre-drainage methods which can pump
a few gallons per minute in fine sandy silts or many thousands of gallons per minute in
coarse sands and gravels.
A well point system consists of a number of well points spaced along a trench or around an
excavation site, all connected to a common header, which is attached to one or more wellpoint
pumps.
Well point systems are most suitable in shallow aquifers where the water level needs to be lowered
no more than 15 or 20 feet. Due to the vacuum limitation of the pump, excavations that are deeper
will require multiple stages of well point systems.
When designing a well point system, it is necessary to give first consideration to the physical
conditions of the site to be dewatered.
Things to consider include:

The physical layout

Adjacent areas

Soil conditions

Permeability

The amount of water to be pumped

Depth to imperviousness

Stratification

To select the proper components of the well point system - the friction losses developed in the
suction side system must be considered.
On construction projects, requirements vary drastically from one job to another. Whatever your job
requirements, Griffin has the equipment available to meet your needs.

The Eductor System is especially suited for deep excavations and stratified soils. As many as
100 eductor wells are commonly activated by a single pumping station although this varies
considerably on the volumes of water to be pumped and the lift required. The volumes of
water which can be pumped by each system are generally low, typically less than 200 gpm..
The Eductor System is generally used in areas where the soils have a low permeability. It is
especially well suited for deep excavations with stratified soils. The eductors are installed at relatively
close spacing similar to the array in wellpoint systems, but require only a single stage to effect draw
downs of up to 100 + feet.
Advantages:

Not limited in vacuum limitation as in wellpoint systems

Can lower water table as much as 100+ feet from the top of excavations

Cost effective when compared to deep wells where close spacing is necessary because of
stratification and/or low permeable soils

Effective in soil stabilization by applying a high vacuum to fine grained soils.

Low maintenance

In a typical Griffin eductor system, a series of eductor wells are installed and connected to two
parallel headers. One header is a high-pressure supply line and the other header is low pressure
return line. Both lines run to a central pump station which feeds water under pressure to eductors
placed at the bottom of the wells.
The system uses a venturi to draw groundwater into the well screen and up to the surface. In the
single pipe packer system the large diameter pipe forms the well casing and a smaller inner pipe
forms the return line. Water is pumped under high pressure along the annulus between the two pipes
and is forced through the nozzle and venturi. The groundwater is then recovered through the well
and into the return pipe, resulting in a stabilizing effect in fine-grained soils.

Griffins Vacuum-Assisted Wellpoint Pumps are available in 4, 6, 8 and 10 models. These

pumps are designed for handling high volumes of water and air. The pump automatically primes and
reprimes at suction lifts of 25 ft. or greater.
These pumps are capable of handling flow up to 3500 gpm, head conditions up to 150 ft and over
200 cfm of air. The pumps are available with the Wind Tunnel high volume air handling system.
Griffin Wellpoint Pumps are particularly suited for wellpoint dewatering systems in pervious soil
formation. Combined with Griffins line of wellpoint accessories it is easy to install and operate an
efficient and complete wellpoint system.
These pumps are available in diesel and electric options, with an integral fuel tank or trailer mounted.
Other options are available with these units including hydraulic drives. Contact Griffin for more

Griffin Wellpoints
Griffin Wellpoints are available in 1 1/2" or 2" with stainless steel screen or PVC screen. They are
available in non jetting and self jetting tips.

Butterfly Swingjoints
Butterfly Swingjoints are constructed of flexible yet reinforced hose with a clear elbow to allow you to
see the flow through the system. The butterfly valve allows the system to be tuned without tools to
monitor and maintain the vacuum level on the system to maximize performance.

Header Pipe System

Griffin can supply a complete Header Pipe System in 4, 6 or 8 diameter PVC as a standard.
Saddles already installed. Header couplings and screw bands to join other headers are included as
well as plugs to cap the saddles.

Header Grommets
Header Grommets allow in-field installation and operation in your choice of piping.

Wellpoint Pipe Puller

The Wellpoint Pipe Puller is a "safety breakthrough" as well as an ideal time saving part in the
dewatering set up over the conventional methods. the Wellpoint Pipe Puller grabs the inside of the
pipe wall below the threaded section of the pipe or the joint of PVC pipe, making the removal of the
installed wellpoint a quick, simple, and safe job. A quick upward thrust releases the puller for the next
wellpoint.

Griffin's Self Priming Trash Pumps are available in 4" and 6" models standard that do not require
additional priming systems. These pumps are wet-priming portable pumps. They operate efficiently
under intermittent flow conditions.
These pumps are capable of handling high flows and head conditions exceeding 125 ft. The pump
includes a suction flapper to prime and reprime at suction lifts of 25 ft. and greater. The impellers can
handle solids up to 3" and larger.
These pumps are available in diesel or electric models with an integral fuel tank or trailer mounted.
Other options are available with these units. Contact Griffin for more information.

As our sewer infrastructure continues to age, rehabilitation is needed to keep it up and

running. With Griffin's line of trash handling pumps, contractors can bypass sewage during
sewer line repairs - getting tough projects done and keeping the system working for the
community that relies on it.
Bypass Pumping is a critical element of many rehab projects. Temporary bypass systems are used
to transfer water supplies and sewage flow, so that these vital services are uninterrupted during
construction.
Griffin Dewatering and Griffin Pump and Equipment offers an ever increasing line of pumps to fit
nearly any bypass application. Whether it be above ground non-clog diesel driven pumps, above
ground self priming diesel or gasoline driven pumps, hydraulic driven submersible pumps, or electric
driven submersible trash pumps, Griffin can provide a pump to fit your need. Simply put, if we do not
have a pump in our standard line, well build a pump to fit the need.
Griffins exclusive installations and experience guarantee a quality pump and system for applications
from a few gallons to several thousand of gallons per minute per pump. Pumps from as small as 2
up to 24 are readily available for turn-key contract, rental or purchase.

Material handling (trash) pumps are available with several options and configurations, so contact
Griffin today for more information.

Griffin's experience includes simple and complicated sewer bypass projects.

Griffin maintains a fleet of equipment to handle the small, as well as the large, sewer bypass
projects nationwide.

Griffin has successfully installed and operated bypasses that have exceeded 100 MGD.

With Griffin's nationwide locations and resources we can handle your large or small sewer
bypass pumping needs.
