Introduction:
------------You are a retired hero who has saved the country from monsters and
made the King and Queen see the errors of their ways; you are loved
throughout the land. One day, you see a shining light appear
outside. You go outside and investigate and find in it a little
girl. The girl's guardian patron speaks to you and tells you to
raise the girl. Time passes and the girl turns 10. The game begins.
(1)
Princess Maker 2 is part of a series of Japanese simulation games
in which you have to raise your daughter so that she does well with
her life. The game is made by GAINAX, a prominent Japanese company
who is known for its animated productions (including "Gunbuster",
"Otaku no video" and the widely known "Neon Genesis Evangelion." (2)
It should be pointed out that GAINAX does put twisted things in their
games including the "transparent dress" present in this game as
well as their "Neon Genesis Evangelion Strip Mah-jong" where everyone
strips, including IKARI Gendou.
Methods:
-------To determine the levels of the various statistics required to obtain
each ending, the following procedure was followed. The MAPI = 1 cheat
was used (that is, the line MAPI = 1 was added to the PM2.cnf file).
Either a new game was started (by mashing on various buttons to get the
Olive Oyl character) or an old game was loaded. The Beta Shop was
accessed by going to town, and each of the 74 endings was set. The
statistics that the character then possessed was recorded, and these
statistics are assumed to be the minimum level to get that particular
ending. All information is based on the beta English version.
Results:
-------The results are presented in the following form. The general class of
ending precedes the occupations, and is in capital letters. The ending
will then be numbered, according to how it is listed in the Beta Shop
menu [which incidentally seems to correspond to the score level required
for the most part]. On the line below the job listing, the various
traits and required scores will be indented {yes, it's pretty obvious,
but it was fun saying that}.

Discussion:
----------It is interesting to note that only 9 attributes really affect one's
choice of occupation. The other attributes help determine the final
score and whether your daughter does well, or poorly in her profession.
The key ones are the four types of reputation. Some of these are
surprisingly high. Who would have thought that a Barwench would need
values in the 200s?
It is only for the top level positions that the other characteristics
become more important. The endings that deal with a possible job that
your daughter can work in (such as Tutor, Hunter, etc.) do not have this

requirement. It is interesting to see how close some of the endings are

to each other in requirements. For instance, one point separates a
Royal concubine to a Queen (go figure, mind you). A second example is
that one point separates the Grand poobah with the Prime minister
position.
Just because one's daughter has the required attributes to obtain a
particular ending, it does not necessarily mean that your daughter will
get that ending. The studies and work history play a key role in the
determination. For instance, a Gravekeeper and Hunter have the same
statistics. It is improbable that your daughter will become a Hunter if
she has only worked as a Gravekeeper. A similar situation occurs in the
Arts category. One well trained in Dancing will probably not become an
Artist. It should be noted that this hypothesis has not been tested out
yet. On this point, Shrum notes that a writer can be obtained as a
career if a couple of classes are spent in Poetry. (2) Perhaps this
guide may serve as illumination as to why this may be the case for
this person.
One special note about using the MAPI = 1 cheat. If you use this, only
the specific values required for an ending get a value if the ending is
set. All other values are set to 0. Thus, one hoping to get the best
ending with a minimum of work cannot. Instead, you pretty much have to
play through the game to raise your stats in order to get both a higher
score and also to have your daughter marry someone (if that's your
inclination of course).
To help speed up the process of viewing all of the endings quickly, you
can press F3 during the opening credits to make them go faster. The
Escape key also seems to help with this as well. (Thanks to Matrix
Mole for this helpful tip!)
In order to save typing time, listings of the various occupations were
copied from another FAQ (1) into this one with corrections being made.
Loopy is aware of this and has given permission. However, the
various occupations were recorded by this author during note taking.
