Task 7
A: Hello, Diana! I need your expert advice. I would like to start doing yoga, but I really
have no idea where to start from and what kind of yoga should I be going into. As far as I know,
you are very experienced at yoga, am I right ?
D: Yes, Ive been doing yoga for two years already.
A: Thats great! What is the best yoga practice for beginners?
D: Lets better start from your goals. What would you like to get from yoga?
A: Well, first of all, I would like to get some preliminary experience as a novice in yoga.
Then, I think it would be nice to lose some weight, and, after that, get some muscle stretching.
However, I do have some problems with my back. Will that be a contraindication for doing yoga?
D: No, not at all, but I believe you should do Hatha yoga first, it is great for beginners.
A: How is it different from other types of yoga?
D: It is a basic yoga type all beginners should do. It develops flexibility, balance and
breathing techniques. Other yoga types are for more advanced students.
A: Wow, I never knew about it! What about my back problems? Can yoga help me with
that?
D: Sure, there is a special type of yoga for people with your problems. It is called Iyengar
yoga. It uses special equipment to strengthen your back muscles
A: It sounds interesting. I hope that way my problems will be gone forever. What do you
suggest to do, if a person wants to lose weight?
D: Well, yoga is not the same as gym exercises, so if one wants to lose much of his or her
weight, probably its more reasonable to go for running and working-out. But when it is time to
polish the results, Vinyasa toga is a perfect fit. It is fast-paces and requires you to move throughout
the class.
A: Yeah, perhaps, thats what I really need! I heard yoga can help you calm down and get
rid of stress, is it true?
D: Of course, there is Kundalini yoga, it calms your mind down through special moving
and breathing techniques, and meditaion.
A: All right, I got it! Thank you very much, Diana!
D: Youre very welcome!
