Our next selection is TELL MY FATHER.

This song was featured

in a 1998 Musical that was nominated for a Tony Award entitled
THE CIVIL WAR.
Imagine - if you will, the aftermath of a battlefield. The echo of
cannon fire and gun shots have faded. All that remains are men,
many still in their teens, that lay dead or dying - strewn across a
field of grass.
Tell My Father is a song about one young soldier, who is dying in
the field. Although the song tells of a soldier in the Civil War, it
could be any war, .....anywhere .....at any time.
(Harmonica Begins To Play)

While a fellow soldier comforts him in his final moments, the young
man, with his dying breath - tells him the following:
Tell my father that his son
Didn't run, or surrender
That I bore his name with pride
Tell my father when you can
I was a man
For with honor did I die
Tell my father so he'll know
I love him so
Tell my father not to cry
Then say.... goodbye
