How does the media influence people?

The media has both positive and negative influences on people.

The media can make a person more aware of what is happening on
a local, national and global level, or it can warp ones perspective
of the truth. The media has the capacity to ruin society by
encouraging false ideals, praising selfishness and making the
possession of fame, fortune and talent qualifications to be
considered a valuable person.

Social media: how does it affect our mental health and wellbeing?
Written by Honor Whiteman.

In 1971, the first email was delivered. More than 40 years on,
social media has taken the world by storm. Social networking sites,
such as Facebook and Twitter, are now used by 1 in 4 people
worldwide. Such activity may seem harmless, but some
researchers suggest social media may affect our mental health and
well-being.
In 2012, Medical News Today reported on a study suggesting that
Facebook use may feed anxiety and increase a person's feeling of
inadequacy.
A more recent study, led by social psychiatrist Ethan Cross of the
University of Michigan, found that using Facebook may even make
us miserable
"On the surface, Facebook provides an invaluable resource for
fulfilling the basic human need for social connection," says Kross.
"But rather than enhance well-being, we found that Facebook use
predicts the opposite result - it undermines it."
But are such claims exaggerated? Or should we be limiting our use
of social media? Medical News Today looks at the evidence.

Transcripcin de How Social Media & Technology Affect Us

Pros and Cons
Social Media & technology have many pros as well as cons on our
life.
Affects our Health
-Social media and technology affect our lives more than you may
think, including our health.
-It also is a cause of headaches, because many of us get addicted
to it and spend more time using it then they really should, and
staring at bright screens for long periods of time is not good for
your eyes.
How Social Media & Technology Affect Us
Social Media and technology are a leading cause to many family
and friend issues.
It takes away from many people using talking communication to
each other and they replace it with Snapchat, Facebook, and
Twitter.
Affects our Social Life
Cons:
- Overuse of social media can cause tendencies in teens and antisocial behavior in young adults. Studies found that daily use of
Facebook can make people more prone to depression, anxiety and
other psychological disorders.
- Research finds that the more friends someone has on Facebook,
the less socially adjusted they are. A study conducted on students
entering college found that those with several hundred Facebook
friends had less actual friends, and their social skills were poorer
than those who had less Facebook friends.

- Facebook and other social media networks can have a negative

impact on learning. Studies conducted on students from middle
school through college showed that frequent use of social media
services resulted in lower grades.

Pros:
-Research shows that people that use social media connect better
with family and friends by posting pictures, updating statuses and
instant messaging.
-Using social media is a fast way to communicate with each other,
because if you send a message over Facebook, more than likely the
person will get a notification on their smartphone & reply almost
instantly.
-Technology is great to use in schools, because it allows us to be
able to make presentations, type essays, and research information.

These are some reasons why I am trying to persuade you to limit

our time on our social media and limit our technology use, but also
still use technology & social media in our daily life.
