Philosophy of Classroom Management

As a teacher, I will implement a positive and productive atmosphere into my classroom. I
will provide a safe, comfortable, and a stable learning environment, while building a personal
relationship with each of my students. My classroom will provide a safe haven for children to
come explore and expand their minds without any worries or fears. I believe that it is important
to work with a child and not against them.
Its important to me as a teacher, to establish a reward and consequence system in my
classroom. I believe that, as a teacher, you should be proactive and take preventative measures
for the safety of your classroom. At the start of each school year, rules and expectations will be
communicated and agreed upon by both the student and parents. I will require students and
parents to sign a classroom contract stating that they understand my behavioral, academic
expectation and consequences. At the time of discipline, my job as a teacher will be to assess
each misconduct and implement the proper discipline or consequence needed. I understand not
one child is the same and each student should have an individual evaluation on the students
current and past (if any) misbehavior.
Along with consequences, a reward systems will be implemented as well. Positive
reinforcement of rewarding students who maintain their positive and productive expectations
will be key to maintaining a cooperative classroom. I will help guide my students to understand
that they do not only get to acknowledge when they have done something bad, but they will both
receive positive and negative reinforcement throughout the day. If the students know exactly

what is expected of them and what will occur if they do or do not follow the expectations, my
classroom will run efficiently.
As much as classroom management is essential, I feel building a personal connection
with each of my students is just as important. I believe a connection allows children to feel safe
as well as feeling like they have something in common with me as their teacher. A relationship
with my students will help show them that their feelings and actions are not one sided. I will
strive to be my students support system by reminding them its their right to be open minded and
honest as they grow into successful citizens of our community. I have hope that one day, as a
teacher, I will be an adult role model for my students.

In an effective classroom students should

not only know what they are doing,
they should also know why and how
