PURPOSE/RELEVANCE: The purpose of this assignment it to give students hands on


practice with putting events in the story in order.

PREREQUISITE SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE (list): Prerequisite knowledge would be what


characters and settings are, I have added a slide to provide a review.

GA-CC PERFORMANCE STANDARDS (list): ELAGSE1RL3. Describe characters, setting,


and major events in the story, using key details.

GOALS OF LESSON ALIGNED WITH GEORGIA PERFORMANCE STANDARDS (list): Goals


of this lesson plan are to review setting, and character, as well as practice ordering
scenes from the story in correct order.

ESSENTIAL QUESTION(S): Why is it important to put events in the correct order?

ACADEMIC LANGUAGE DEMANDS:

a. (Required) Language Function: Language helps emphasize what the students


goal is as well as explains what is expected of them/

b. (Required) Vocabulary: Characters, setting, event in the story.

MATERIALS/EQUIPMENT/TECHNOLOGY REQUIRED: Smart board, access to YouTube


video, and smart board lesson document.

LESSON OBJECTIVES: The student will show that they can properly order events in
the story by correctly matching a scene with the corresponding number it goes with.

ASSESSMENT: The students will be expected to actively participate and when it is


their turn with the smart board activity, to get one or more events in the correct
order.

PROCEDURES

Introduction: Review what characters and settings are. Then begin with reading the
book Where the Wild Things Are or playing the video recording of the book. Then
start with the activities of character and settings leading into the ordering pictures
of scenes in the book in the correct order.

Strategies: Each student will have the opportunity to get up and participate in the
activities on the SMART board.

Application/Independent Practice: Activities of matching events and pictures from


the story into correct order.

Closure: Ask the students why having events in the story in order matters.

Extended Practice/Homework: N/A

ACCOMMODATIONS/DIFFERENTIATION: Accommodations that could need to be made


are the format of which the book is read. Some students may get distracted in large

group so they may need to be taken from the group to concentrate on the activity
one on one with and assistant teacher.
