7 Things Students want to know


1. Am I in the right class room?
a. Greet them at the door with a smile and a hello
b. Check their schedules to make sure that they are where they need to be
c. Put a welcoming message and name on the board
d. Have a sign identifying room
2. Where am I supposed to sit?
a. When you greet them at the door, instruct them where you would like them to sit.
3. What are the rules of the classroom?
a. Rules & procedures will be handed out and sent home to the parents.
b. Rules & procedures will also be posted in the classroom.
4. What will I be doing this year?
a. A syllabus will be handed out on the first day. It will serve as our guideline for the semester.
5. How will I be graded?
a. Grades will be earned by all assignments, quizzes, and tests.
b. Dont grade on a curve. Allow the students to be in control of their grades.
c. Show them everyone can succeed if they put forth the effort.
6. Who is the teacher as a person?
a. Students will learn about their teacher through a personal introduction and small section on
the bulletin board.
7. Will the teacher treat me as a human?
a. Treat the students with respect and integrity.
b. Greet them at the door every day.
c. Write messages on the board (i.e., Happy Friday).
