3. Fasting
Fasting is one of the five pillars on which the
structure of Islam recesses. Fasting was made
obligatory for Muslims in 2 Hijri. It is prescribed for
Muslims in the form of a month long abstinence for
food and drink from dawn to sun-set accompanied
by intense devotional activities.
Hadith: If a person does not abstain from telling
lies, or doing wrong when he is observing fast let it
be known to him, that Allah does not want that he
should stop taking his food. (Sahi Bukhari)

4. Zakat (Obligatory Charity)
The word Zakat is derived from Zaka { }which
means to increase or to bless. Another meaning of
the word is as used in the Quran, carries the sense
of purification. It finds its origin in the Quranic
command to take alms from their goods to purify
and sanctify them. (9:103)
Importance: The two commandments to keep up
prayer and to give Zakat are often mentioned
together in the Quran.
And be stead fast in Prayers,
and regular in charity. (2: 110) Translate into Arabic !

4. Zakat Rate of Zakat
1. On cash, gold and silver: Zakat is paid on
2.5%. A person who possess 52.5 (Taula) of
silver or 7.5 (Taulas) of Gold.
2. Production from mines: Owner of the mines
have to pay one-fifth of the production from
mines. This is called Khamas
3. Land Tax: The basis of this compulsory tax on
production of agricultural land is called Ushr is
to be found in the Quran. The rate of Ushr is
one-tenth of the agricultural production of land
benefitting by rain/natural spring. Where as it
will be 1/20th for artificially irrigated land.

200 Sheep or Goats = 1 Goat
5. Bulls Cows & Buffaloes:
30 40 Cattles = One Calf (One Year)

5. Hajj (Pilgrimage)
The literal meaning of Hajj is Will and desire to
visit.
In the terminology of Shariah, it means to visit the
Holy Qaba in certain days i.e Zil-Hajj. Holy Qaba
was was the 1st structure built by Hazrat Adam
(A.S) for worship of Allah. Then about 4500 years
ago, Hazrat Ibrahim and Hazrat Ismail (A.S) rebuilt
it at the command of Allah.

5. Hajj Obligatory Acts of Hajj
1. Putting on the Ehram, Making Neah of Hajj &
reciting the Talbeeh.
2. Waquf e Arfaat: Staying the plan of Arfaat on
9th Zilhajj.
3. Tawaf e Ziyarat: On the 10th or 12th of Zilhaj
after shaving of head or shortening of the hair.

In religious terminology, it expresses the struggle
against ones evil inclination for the sake of Islam
and Muslim Ummah.

1. Jihad Bin-Nafs

3. Jihad with Qital
4. Jihad Bil Lissan
5. Jihad Bil Qalam

Jihad
Jihad is struggle with in our selves which is
responsible for establishing Maroof and removing
Munkir (evil) from our own lives and from society.
It demands the use of all our material and mental
resources. Finally we may be required to give up
our life for the cause of islam.
