1.INTRODUCTION:
a) OBJECTIVE

A multi-level car parking is essentially a building with number of floors or layers for the cars to be parked. The
different levels are accessed through interior or exterior ramps. An automated car parking has mechanized lifts
which transport the car to the different levels. Therefore, these car parks need less building volume and less
ground space and thus save on the cost of the building. It also does away the need for employing too many
personal to monitor the place. In an automated multi-level car parking, the cars are left at the entrance and are
further transported inside the building by robot trolley. Similarly, they are retrieved by the trolley and placed at
the exit for the owner to drive away.
In metropolitan cities, vehicle parking has become a major concern in all busy areas and a good traffic system
needs a good parking system.Hence,an AUTOMATED MULTILEVEL CAR PARKING is a suitable alternative.
The present project work is aimed to develop a working prototype of a car parking system for parking 6 to 8
cars within a confined parking area of . The cars are parked in the vacant space as well as retrieved from the
respective space automatically.

(b) BLOCK DIAGRAM:

2. Methodology:
1. The aim is to use a confined area to park a number of vehicles efficiently with no manual monitoring.
2. The car is left at a designated spot(base) by the owner(following this step, the process is automated).
3. The System looks for a vacant space(cell) in the parking area.
4. As soon as the required space is located by the system, the process to transfer the vehicle from the base to the
designated cell is triggered.

5. The vehicle travels vertically as well as horizonatally to reach its designated cell, both the movements being
automatic.
6. Similar process is followed for the retrieval of the vehicle, however the process follows a reverse order.
7. The cell is located as per the vehicle requirement and the process follows to transfer the vehicle from the cell
to the base.

3. TOOLS USED:
a. Microprocessor-AVR ATmega 16
b. AVR Studio
c. Mechanical setup(assembly of various components)

4. ADVANTAGES:
Safety and security - No property and vehicle damage
Save time, money and fuel - No searching of your car
Environment-friendly - Minimize pollution
Systematic - Can be customized to accommodate any building style and environment
Valuable investment - Generate more revenue with lower operation costs and overhead
Efficient Provides better alternative to the conventional parking system in terms of utilization of area.

5. LIMITATIONS:
.

1.Regular maintenance of the mechanical parts.

2.The process is totally dependant on the central system.

6. APPLICATIONS:
1. Alternative to conventional parking system, especially in areas with scarce land area as compared to the
number of cars.
2. Parking at Airports,Railway Stations,Marketplaces and other crowded areas for better traffic management.

3.Alternative for the car manufacturers and retailers to park a number of cars in the same area, ensuring safety.
