Emerge Update
Melinda Cable & Anna Kuder

Hurricane Matthew
Thank you so much for all of
your prayers, messages and
concerns as we braced for
Hurricane Matthew. Our area
of Haiti experienced light,
steady rain and an occasional
breeze. Praise the Lord! Please
remember the people of Haiti
and the surrounding countries
in your prayers as they recover
from the storm.
May God be glorified through all of
the disaster relief efforts.
May the local churches rise up to
encourage & support their brothers
and sisters.
May Christ be lifted high & many
people come to know our King and
Refuge in the storm.

Remember you can follow us on

Facebook and/or through RTSMissions
Facebook page.

It did not take us long to get settled in here at Greg and Maria
Shepherds house. The first week we were here we got to spend a
lot of time in fellowship and Bible study before we began to work.
The second week was the first week of school here in Haiti! We
were able to observe the classrooms where we would be teaching.
The following week we began teaching English. Anna is working
at a school in an area called Roche Grande and I am teaching at a
school in Juampas. It was a bumpy start, but weve been able to
find our way. The older students are very eager to learn the
language because they know that it is a great opportunity for
them. Continue to pray for us as we teach English.

Prayer Requests

Pray that we would

be diligent in
studying the
language and that we
will learn it quickly.

Pray that we would

be filled with joy and
compassion everyday
as we minister to the
people of Haiti.

Pray that we would

grow in our faith by
consistently trusting
God everyday.

Some of our favorite things

Avocados, Plantains, Kanep, fresh baked bread,
napping in the hammock, playing soccer with
kids, making children laugh

English Lessons
We were a little hesitant at first, but now were having a
blast! We are teaching the younger students a lot of
vocabulary. However, with the older students we have
been able to begin conversations and will study some
grammar soon. The older students are very eager to
learn the language. By learning to speak English, many
job opportunities can open for them. Which can change
their life and provide for their families.

Piano Lessons

Kids Club

Anna teaches piano twice a week to three boys: Rico,

Bebe, and Jean Wilson. This was one of the main things
she was worried about having never taught before, but it
has quickly become the main thing she looks forward to
during the week.

We have been traveling to different churches every

Saturday and participating in their Kids Club program.
We sing songs, play games and teach a lesson from the
Bible. This past month we have been teaching about the
value of friendship from the story of David and
Jonathan. Pray that these children will grow to become
good friends who protect and encourage each other.
Pray that they would be willing to lay down their lives

Thank you for your continued support and prayers.
Please continue to pray for the Haitian people and that
God would be glorified in His people! Rejoice with us
that our God is GREAT and sits enthroned!
Clap your hands, all peoples! Shout to God with loud songs of
joy! For the LORD, the Most High, is to be feared, a great king
over all the earth. Psalm 47:1-2
