STUDENT RESPONSE AND ASSESSMENT TOOLS

Provide samples of questions/prompts to be given to students:
An example of one of the questions is What is the title of the official that is the leader of our state? I
would say the question aloud and then read all of the choices. I expect students to answer with Governor.
Another example is, The President is NOT an elected official? I would say True or False then, read out
the question. I expect students to answer with False.
Right/Wrong Answers: Will there be right/wrong answers to these questions?
Yes
No
Mixed (Some will have correct answers, others will not.)
Immediate corrective feedback:
Will you pre-select correct answers to some or all of the questions and display correct response to the class
after the SRS activity?
Yes
No
Why or why not?
If this assignment is used as a formative assessment I think its helpful for students to see their mistakes and
learn from them. Immediate corrective feedback is a perfect time to address those teachable moments.
If I used this assignment as a way to gauge prior knowledge I may not review correct answers right away.
Most likely, I will want to carefully review the data first.
Use of data: What data will be collected as a result of this activity? How will it be used and by whom?
(For example: Will information collected from this activity be used to award a grade? Will the individual
information collected be shared with students and/or parents to help them monitor individual progress?
Will you discuss the aggregate, anonymous data with the whole class to help them learn? Will you use data
to differentiate instruction for students, if so describe how.)
If this assignment is used as a way to gauge prior knowledge I will use the data to see what material I need
to spend more time on or, what material I can teach a little quicker. For purposes of this assignment the data
will not be shared with anyone but myself.
If this assignment is used as a formative assessment I will use the data to see who has satisfactorily
mastered the content and who hasnt. For the students who havent mastered the content, I will re-teach the
material. The data could be shared with parents and students of those that are struggling.
Describe what will occur after the SRS activity:
If used to gauge prior knowledge, I will spend more time on content that students struggled with and less
time on content that the majority of students mastered.
If used as a formative assessment I will use this activity to see how needs re-teaching and who doesnt.
Describe your personal learning goal for this activity. (For example: What are you trying that you have
not tried before? What do you hope to learn from this activity? How do you hope it will help students learn?
You must design something that will help you learn something new. Honor system!) :
I hope to learn what my students know and/or dont know. I also hope the students find this type of activity
interesting. I hope to learn how to view and print reports on students progress at the conclusion of this
activity.
