Introduction:
Security is a prime concern in our day-today life. Everyone wants to be as much secure as
possible. An access control for doors forms a vital link in a security chain. Traditional

lock systems using mechanical lock and key mechanism are being replaced by new
advanced techniques of locking system. These techniques are an integration of
mechanical and electronic devices and highly intelligent. One of the prominent features
of these innovative lock systems is their simplicity and high efficiency.

Such an automatic lock system consists of electronic control assembly which controls the
output load through a password. This output load can be a motor or a lamp or any other
mechanical/electrical load.
This system demonstrates a password based door lock system wherein once the correct
code or password is entered, the door is opened and the concerned person is allowed
access to the secured area. Again, if another person arrives it will ask to enter the
password. If the password is wrong then door would remain closed, denying the access to
the person.

Objectives:
Our objectives are as follows:

Increase the security level to prevent an unauthorized unlocking of the door.

Give the flexibility to the user to change or reset the password in case the user
forgets that combination.

Lock the door by using password.

To give user more security yet cost-efficient way of door locking system.

Methodology
The main and very basic need of security was fulfilled by using the mechanical or
electrical locks which are very heavy and designed for only one key. Therefore, a large
number of locks of required for locking a large industry there are many keys for different
locks (i.e. a very tedious task to arrange these keys). These locks are not so much
protective and could be broken by using some mechanical tools. All these problems could

be solved if we use electronic locking system in place of these electrical & mechanical
locks. There are also some more features are available in this electronic locking system
the electronic security system is very light, flexible, reprogrammable, lower cost, more
accurate, highly secure and required less power. In this way, due to the introduction of the
electronic security system the security need and fulfilled to a great extent and we could
protect a whole industry or company very easily and rapidly.

The main component in the circuit is Cotex controllers. In this project 43 keypad is used
to enter the password. The password which is entered is compared with the predefined
password.
If the entered password is correct, then the system opens the door by rotating door motor
and displays the status of door on LCD. If the password is wrong, then door is remain
closed and displays pwd is wrong on LCD.

STM Microcontroller

STM32 is a family of 32-bit microcontroller integrated circuits by STMicroelectronics.

The STM32 chips are grouped into related series that are based around the
same 32-bit ARM processor
core,
such
as
the Cortex-M7, CortexM4F, Cortex-M3, Cortex-M0+, or Cortex-M0. Internally, each microcontroller
consists of the processor core, static RAM memory, flash memory, debugging
interface, and various peripherals.

Liquid Crystal Display

Liquid Crystal Display(LCD) is a flat display used in digital watches, cameras and
many portable computers displays utilize two sheets of polarizing material with a liquid
crystal solution between them. An electric current passed through the liquid causes the
crystals to align so that light cannot pass through them. Each crystal, therefore, is like a
shutter, either allowing light to pass through or blocking the light. LCD's consume
much less power than LED.
Stepper Motor

Stepper motors move a known interval for each pulse of power. These pulses of power
are provided by a stepper motor driver and is referred to as a step. As each step moves the
motor a known distance it makes them handy devices for repeatable positioning. In this
project, it is used to change the position of door by using mechanism
which change the rotational motion to linear motion.

Applications:
Applications of project are given below:

This simple circuit can be used at residential places to ensure better safety.

It can be used at organizations to ensure authorized access to highly secured

places.

With a slight modification, this Project can be used to control the switching of
loads through password.

Conclusion
Our electronic door lock performed as expected. We were able to implement all of the
functions specified in our proposal. The biggest hurdle we had to overcome with this
project was interfacing the micro controller with the hardware components. We feel that
this electronic door lock is very marketable because it is easy to use, comparatively
inexpensive due to low power consumption, and highly reliable. This door lock is
therefore particularly useful in applications such as hotel room door locks, residential
housing, and even office buildings.
