8. Thesis Committee Membership (Baccalaureate)


- There will be four members composed of the adviser, technical/external
evaluator, and two other members to be identified by the
Chairman/Dean/Director
- The student(s) will recommend their adviser in consultation with the department
chair, and with the approval of the Dean/Director
- The adviser should be an expert in the field
Oral Examination Committee (Graduate)
1. The OrEC shall be responsible for the conduct and evaluation of the
thesis/dissertation proposal and final examination.
2. The OrEC shall be organized during the Graduate Thesis/Dissertation Seminar.
Membership shall be recommended from the University Pool of Faculty (UPF) by
the student and approved by the Dean.
3. The OrEC shall be composed of the following:

4. The Chair of the OrEC shall be determined on a collegial basis.


5. An expert evaluator is an authority in a field of specialization in terms of
experience or knowledge. He may be a faculty or a holder of a non-teaching
position in the University or from other agencies, public or private.
6. A members inability to attend an oral examination and non-submission of a
written evaluation of the research will warrant a reconstitution of the OrEC
membership. The OrEC member will notify the Dean of his/her inability to attend
at least four days before the scheduled defense. With unavoidable situation and the
OrEC member submits a written evaluation of the research at least four days
before the oral examination, payment shall be 50%.
7. As part of the administrative responsibility, the Dean, if not a member of the
OREC shall sit in during the oral examination.

9. Acknowledgements formal, narrative, use the third person

10. A one-page dedication may be placed after the Acknowledgments. However there
should be no title on this page.

placed in the Appendices.
16. Abstract
- Abridged version of the most important results of the study
- Should be placed before Chapter 1
- One page only, maximum of 150 words but be sure that all objectives are
answered
- Single spaced, italics
- Keywords indented, 3 to 5 words only and to be arranged alphabetically
- Should contain the following: rationale, methodology/design (one sentence only)
and salient findings
- Conclusions and recommendations are not to be included

17. Results and Discussion


- The presentation shall follow the statement of objectives/problems
- Introduce the tables, figures, plates first; as much as possible , these are not
supposed to be placed in between paragraphs
- In case of long tables and there is a need to cut the table, the first part should
always be longer than the other part
- If the remaining part of a cut table consists of 2 to 3 lines only, the font size may
be reduced (up to font size 10) so that the table will be accommodated in just
one page.

23. Review of Literature
There will be no separate chapter on the review of literature. However, these will
be integrated in the Situation Analysis, Framework, Methodology, and Discussion

of Findings.

24. There should be a minimum number of literature to be reviewed and cited:

- Studies to be reviewed must be within the last 5 years while for
theories/principles, there shall be no restriction as to the date of publication.
- Secondary citations shall be limited to two only for all levels (BS, MA, Ph D)
- Reviews from Wikipedia are not acceptable
25. Degree
The degree shall be based on what is approved by the Board of Regents.
