The Visayas State University in cooperation with the Johann Heinrich von Thnen
Institute-Institute of International Forestry and Forestry Economics is currently
implementing the Landscape Forestry in the Tropics (LaForeT) Project. This is a fouryear project funded by the Johann Heinrich von Thnen Institute and the Ministry of
Food and Agriculture of the Republic of Germany. The main aim of the project is
highlighting the impact of policy instruments on deforestation and reforestation
processes and land-use dynamics and sustainability in a landscape context.
The project is composed of six (6) Working Packages that have specific goals and
contributions towards attaining the main goal of the project. Amongst the 6 Working
Packages (WPs) is the Working Package 2 on Sustainable forestry and agroforestry
land-use. The WP2 aims to assess the impact of land-use on forest area and forest
structure by conducting forest inventory activities and investigating the carbon storage
capacity, biodiversity and increment of commercial timber species. Within this WP2,
the Visayas State University as the official partner of the project seeks to employ one
(1) Forest Inventory Coordinator that will provide the following duties and
responsibilities.
Academic Qualifications:
Has previous experience of conducting forest inventory activities (either for carbon
accounting or ecological studies).
Has previous experience coordinating a certain number of people with respective tasks
and managing team dynamics during fieldwork activities.
Has previous experience on coordinating various stakeholders (logistical issues) at the
community level for the conduct of the forest inventory activities.
Language Requirements
Additional Requirements
Must be willing to work and endure fieldwork conditions (e.g. harsh weather conditions,
mountainous terrain)
Must be physically available to perform duties for the entire duration of the forest
inventory activity
