This document provides the Low Level Design (LLD) of NetVIewer system to accommodate the core consolidation of BellTel and HFTI
1.1 Document Scope
This document describes, in a low level, the architecture and deployment NetVIewer system for BellTel and HFTI consolidation. The scope of this document is limited to BellTel and HFTI NetViewer system. Reference are made to other Network Elements and Network as required.
1.1.1 Limitations This document does not include information on other Network Elements, Network Elements mention here in the document for references purpose only.

2 NetViewer Overview NetViewer is a management system based on Microsoft Windows system for standard x86 platform; platforms largely used and well known, NetViewer implements client(s)/server(s) architecture and the server(s) also support the master/slaves configuration: the network element data are processed by the server-side parts of the system and the user normally accesses the NE information via graphical user interfaces.

2.1 Flexible SW architecture
NetViewer is implementing a flexible software architecture based on Client-Server solution. NetViewer is organized with core software, the Engine, with the common parts and the main features and a number of NE-specific plug-ins supporting, among the rest, the Graphical User Interface (the GUI) in the NetViewer Client. For increasing functionalities additional packages software are available and can be designed on request; installation is generally plug-and-play, without major system outage

2.2 NetViewer Engine
2.2.1 General This component is the core part of the system; contains the code implementing the common functions of the system: -
the connection to the NE,
the management of the NE information, the storage and retrieval of the data to/from the database, the Graphical user interfaces,
In the NetViewer Engine component it is possible to identify several subcomponents, even if they are installed by the same setup package. Optional features are delivered as part of core system. As default, the optional features are not enabled. Activation procedure is required.
2.2.2 NetViewer Server
The NetViewer Server is the main subcomponent of NetViewer; it collects the information from an NE via the proper adapter, it processes the information data, it stores it in the Data Base, and it makes it available for the graphical user interfaces. NetViewer Server contains all functions needed for the network layer and element layer management and it implements the logic of the system administration function.
2.2.3 NetVIewer Client
NetViewer Client implements the Graphical User Interface (GUI) for the network and the network elements management. All the management functions of the NetViewer Server are accessible through the NetViewer GUI client. The NetViewer Client communicates with the NetViewer Server via an optimized application protocol, over TCP/IP. The window architecture, implemented by the NetViewer GUI client, is called MDI (Multiple Document Interface). In this graphical interface the consistency of displayed data is guaranteed. For example, this means that GUI elements displaying the same information, also within different windows, are updated at the same time.
2.2.4 NetBuilder NetBuilder is the graphic tool for the administration of NetViewer system, which allows: -
the creation/modification of NetViewer network maps
the management of the services of NetViewer Server the user management
The use of NetBuilder is reserved to the users that have the proper privileges.

3 NetViewer Solution Prior to Core Consolidation BellTel-HFTI Nokia will deploy NetViewer 11 solution to manage the network elements. The NetViewer 11 architecture for BellTel-HFTI is a single server with warm stand-by server configuration that enables the automatic protection of the NetViewer Server PC.

3.1 NetViewer 1:1 Warm Stand-By
The Warm Stand-by functionality is a 1 to 1 protection (Active to Active) that enables the automatic protection of the NetViewer Server PC named Active with another Server PC called Stand-by. The NetViewer Clustering Service (NVCS): listens to NetViewer alive status on active PC; default period is 15sec automatically starts NetViewer Services on the stand-by server if the active one fails; this operation takes only a few seconds maintains the alignment between active and stand-by NetViewer server data and configuration (maps, backgrounds, databases, user profiles, customized configurations, etc..) The two server share the same IP address via the Windows Load/Network Balancing Service.

NTVRMMAK01 is the NetViewer main server, while NTVRSSTR01 is the NetViewer standby server. At the moment this LLD written the NTVRSSTR01 will be located at Makati Site. When the St. Rosa site ready then the standby server will be relocated to St Rosa. The relocation of the standby server NetViewer is out of the scope of this LLD and will be handled as a change request.
