As construction works progress, variations are


often made to the design, quantity or quality of the
works. As such, disputes arising from variations are
common in construction contracts.

This seminar is intended to provide participants

Francis graduated from the National University of Singapore (NUS) in 1990


and was called to the Singapore Bar in April 1991. During his NUS days, he
participated in the B.A. Mallal Mooting Competition in 1987 and he was
awarded with top distinction.
He joined Harry Elias Partnership LLP in 2009 and was promoted to be one
of the equity partners in 2010. He heads the Firms Arbitration Practice
Group and Private Client and Wealth Management Practice Group. He is
also a partner in the Firms Civil and Commercial Practice Group.
His main areas of practice include advising clients on all forms of dispute
resolution including litigation, mediation, arbitration and negotiated
commercial settlements with particular emphasis on management of risks
and business processes. He has also participated in foreign courts,
providing specialist views and advice on aspects of Singapore law.
Francis has previously served as the In-House Legal Counsel for the
Singapore Sports Council. He is sought after by companies and
organisations to provide advisory as their external legal counsel. He has
also given talks at various seminars organised by the Singapore Business
Federation, ASME, Prudential, Finexis, Apple and Seagate.
